When doing searches on reference materials, it would be nice to be able to press something like F10 to fold or close up all the cells that matched on a search. I have noticed that when the outer area of a treesheet is highlighted using ESC, pressing F10 doesn't fold everything inside the selected area. And sometimes you have to click in an outer cell for F10 to work.

Just wondering about a key like Shift-F10 or Ctrl-F10 that always Folds everything at once.

Thanks for a very interesting program.

Hmm, that sounds like a very special purpose function. What's a use case?

Can you give me an exact step by step description of how to reproduce this problem? I am trying different combinations of using ESC and F10, and I can't manage to make it not work.

Let's say I have reference materials. I do have them all folded then do a search which opens the parts where text is found. Then when I try to quickly close each one and am not always able to. Pressing ESC to go up one layer then F10 sometimes works. But, when I get to the outermost layer, F10 usually reopens some of those cells where text was found. I can close the file without saving so that it is all folded when I reopen. But, having a global key to go through and toggle everything folded or closed would be nice.

Again, I would need a step by step description of how to reproduce "F10 sometimes doesn't work", since I am not able to reproduce it by randomly trying.

As for search unfolding, that is indeed unfortunate. Not sure what the best UI for that would be.

So I have in one file, the New Testament in one column and other resources in the 2nd column.

When I search on the word vocation it finds it in Ephesians.

When I get to this point and press F3 to find the next match, it gets hard to quickly close or Fold all the cells back to where I started from. I find for many of them I have to click in the cell once then press F10 to Fold it. But, pressing Escape puts a selection border around the same cell and sometimes F10 will fold it. But, it gets real messy real easily and I have to click a lot of cells to close them. Whereas, a Ctrl-Alt-F10 or something like that to just Fold everything would be lovely. I can see that a lot of data could be searched and reference files of all sorts created but the cleanup from searching needs to be easier. Also, if a search window pops up with a preview of found matches, it would significantly enhance the use of one file to contain many different sets of data.

I hope this makes more sense now. And I thank you for your time.

Mike

Ok, I just added "Fold All" and "Unfold All" operations. They work on every cell in the selection, recursively, so should cover your use case.

Ctrl-Alt FN-Key combos should not be used on Linux, as that switches from GUI to a text-only terminal away from X/wayland. None of the FN-Key combos work in Linux Mint 21.3 (Virginia) Build 1.0.2 (provided by the distro). Not sure, but I think it's a flatpak from flathub.org
