Wouter,

I've been in and out of Treesheets many times and see it as a topographical map composed of text. The ability to insert any level of grids and zoom in/out quickly is unique among software applications.

I'm sure many users have a lot of text in their .cts files. How they are searching effectively in them is a good question. At a certain depth, the search matches are not readable. I created a modified F3 hotkey via AutoHotkey to auto Zoom found cells but if there are a lot of matches that can still be a laborious process to find the cell one is looking for.

It seems that a new Search dialog that populates another window with the a listbox full of matches would open up new possibilities and allow the program to be used more as a text database. Clicking on a cell in the listbox navigates to the corresponding source cell. Other functions such as sorting, additional filtering would be possible. The Search dialog could allow for multi word searches. And so on.

Not sure who else is hoping for more Search capabilities but I'd certainly use the program more if that is included.

I know you are a busy professional. Thanks for your time.

Mike

These are my AutoHotkey hotkeys that make search and navigation a bit easier. M button is the Middle Mouse button.

I think I would be interested in this, if I understand it correctly.  I don't have very large sheets but I've been thinking about experimenting with one and I stumble with issues you describe using search and filtering.

Could you make a quick-and-dirty mock up of this "listbox full of matches"?

Ken,

It would be similar to a spreadsheet Find command. Normally, Excel and Libre Calc take a word or phrase to search on and jump to the first matching cell. But, if users click on Find All, it will display a list box with matches. Clicking on any item jumps to the referenced cell. It would make doing searches way nicer in TreeSheets. Below, I searched on James. You can see a couple highlighted cells. Then I clicked Find All to see Search Results. In that list I clicked on Nicholas James.
