Okay! I need some help... You see, I had NO IDEA you had to register for the Webcomics Weekend. I did e-mail them awhile back and got no response. I assumed I could just show up...

I see that Trees and Hills is on the attendance list. Did they say only X amount of us can show up as a group? Is there room for one more? I had only planned to go on Saturday, but I'll come whenever you need an extra hand if that's what I have to do!

I'm really upset about this because I've been planning to go for awhile. :-(

Thanks!
- Megan

I think Colin is looking at this ... there are several people in T&H that want to show up too.

T&H is listed as a "cartoonist in attendance" (see page of that name on their site). When I first heard about it they were holding out the possibility of table space, and by the time I wrote to them not long after, they had stopped or changed their mind, but were offering to list poeple as "cartoonists in attendance" on the site, so I went for that (I am also listed separately by name). I only found out about the registration thing recently - I think they went with it because they were getting heavy response; I don't remember that being in place when i wrote to them. Maybe we can get y'all in as T&H? I wrote last night to ask. I should think we'd be able to get at least one person in besides me (and whoever else is on the list by name), hopefully more. If we have to, maybe we can go in in shifts.

Sorry for the 2nd email - I just looked at their site again, and they posted a message March 5 saying all attendees needed to register because of the high volume of respose they received (I wrote in Feb. 15). I imagine plenty of people made plans before then and are just finding out about the change, an suspect some kerfuffle will result.

I wrote them an e-mail on Feb. 26th and didn't hear back from them. I just assumed they were busy and I did my part to RSVP. I only found out about the registration today. I checked for my name on the list and it's not there. SIGH! I sent them another e-mail about it, but again, I don't know if they will reply to me.

Anyhoo, I guess we have to wait and see what they say?

Best,
- Megan

Ah, forget all this politeness, let's just show up en masse and push our way in! If they don't like it, we can set up in the parking lot and sell comics :)

I think this is going to be a mighty chaotic event...

Oh and also we will burn down Eastworks.

Seriously, though, if there are hassles or even if there aren't. we can have a little T&H get-together somewhere.

As long as we're putting politeness aside... I think it's silly and ignorant if they didn't expect this event to EXPLODE with people. And I'm really annoyed that it went from "Just show up!" to "Don't show up if you're not registered!" Mighty unfair if you ask me! I like the idea of a T&H get-together if all else fails. We'll show them!!

If anything, I just want to meet Rene Engström. She's coming from Sweden so I'm not sure if I will have another chance to meet her. :-\

Dude, webcomics are free for everyone.  They set it up as a loosely-organized Show Up and See event, that's totally in the spirit of the medium.  Go in good faith, smile, and if they turn you away, cheerily offer to EXCORIATE them in your own web-comic!

Is this the first time for this event? It sounds like it. It also
sounds like it's going to be either A.) Awesome! B.) a shabbling mess
of schadenfreude to behold or C.) a vicious stew of the two.

Do people dress up at webcomics weekend? I'm picturing a room full of Rays
and Roastbeefs from Achewood and a bunch of pixelated hipsters arguing
with furries and gamers.

Wish I could go! Have fun!

Maybe I WILL attend, then.

That's the mix of fun new ideas and (so far it sounds like) terrible
organization that makes webcomics so interesting.

Sooooo.... are you going to have stuff from individual T&H people at
the table, or just anthologies. Because if it's the former I might
have something ready by then. :-) This is the first I heard about
this. Need to work harder at paying attention to events like this -

I heard that over 666,000 web comics creators are attending, and 11,111 will
be raptured into the Next Phase of the Webcomics Universe, while the
remaining hordes will build their own squatters' city out of pizza boxes and
computer parts and stay there through the summer...

If you can, meet us in the Hannaford's parking lot off of Exit 3 in Brattleboro between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. We have actually no idea yet if we are staying the night or going home that evening!

Hey all,

EJ Barnes passed me a rumor she picked up at Modern Myths that the registration nonsense was more due to the # of cars they could fit in the lot than number of people in the building (though I have to imagine that's still a concern), so carpooling may help. I'm in Northampton for the weekend - call me & we can storm the studio together, yes? 603-852-2517 (which I guess the people with phones already know, but whatever).

OK, off to the website to see what the heck they have planned, and then to bed...
