Hey Everyone,

At last month's meetup at Patrick's, we discussed making it a monthly occurrence.  With Brewnion meeting the first Monday of the month, and Treehouse meeting the second Tuesday, everyone agreed that the third Monday would be a good time for everyone.

So with that in mind, we'll be having our monthly meetup this coming Monday, November 18 at 7:00 pm at Patrick's.  It's open to anyone interested in craft beer, not just homebrewers, so it might be a good event to invite your non-brewer friends to.

I would love for it to become something similar to The Mayor's Men's Beer Club and Beer Bettys, a way for beer fans to get together and help foster and develop the beer culture here in Greeley.  Eventually I would like to add an educational component by bringing in guest speakers, but for now, we'll just enjoy good beer and good conversation (probably about beer).  I'll make sure there is some sort of special or discount for the group.

Also, Patrick's is launching their Beer Cellar this Saturday (November 16) with a Cellar Tasting at 4 pm.  We'll be pouring 10 different unique and rare beers, plus we'll have MouCo cheeses and crepes from Cafe Panache.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online (http://patricksgreeley.eventbrite.com) or in person at Patrick's.  We only have about 18 left, so they may not last until Saturday.

And my last shameless plug is for Patrick's Facebook page.  We have a lot of cool tappings, events, and promotions coming up through the end of the year, so be sure to like our Facebook page and continue checking it for the latest updates.  As a teaser, here are some of the cool things we have planned:
  • Stone Enjoy By will be tapped sometime this week
  • Fundraiser for Typhoon Haiyan Relief on Saturday, November 23
  • Goose Island tap takeover featuring Bourbon County, Lolita, Sofie Paradisi, and Matilda Lambicus (sometime in the next 3 weeks)
  • Great Divide Yeti Sighting on December 20, featuring at least 5 different versions of Yeti, including the extinct but delicious Belgian Yeti
And lots more.  All the details will be posted at www.facebook.com/patricksirish

Email me with any questions you have, otherwise I hope to see many of you next Monday, November 18 at 7 pm at Patrick's.

Cheers,
Neil

Sounds great Neil. I'll see if I can make it down to Patrick's very soon. Looks like some good pourings ahead.

Neil,
Wondering about something for these meetings or possibly on other nights. Would Patrick's mind if on occasion we brought in bottles from the outside for a bottle share night?  I realize you want to sell us as much beer as possible, but I've been looking for a place where beer enthusiasts can come together and share some of their favorite bottles from their collection. I'm sure we could guarantee some kind of minimum drink order from the folks, but also wanted to let others share their favorite cellared beers and homebrews.  Let me know your thoughts on that.  I might just make a regular quarterly or every other month bottle share night connected with Fermentedly Challenged.

Dave,

I have always enjoyed trying new beers and would love to see what the famous Dave Butler has in his cellar!  I agree that having the opportunity to experience unique and rare beers would be a welcome plus to support Neil’s project.  (Inject buzz kill here) Unfortunately such an act would be in violation of Patrick’s liquor license.  You see, the State of Colorado, with current liquor laws in place, would frown upon a consumer bringing outside liquor into a commercial venue.  The suggestion to overcome the law is to have a tasting at a non-commercial establishment.

Cheers, Jeff.

OK thanks Jeff. Wasn't aware of what the legalities were, but glad you set me straight.
