The main reason for indicating ECR in passports is to ensure that unskilled workers or anyone with less education is not exploited when they visit certain countries for work.

In 2009, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) replaced its old marking scheme for class X examinations with a new grading system to be used in end-of-term examinations in classes IX and X. Under the new system, student admission to the senior-secondary level at CBSE-affiliated schools is no longer based on one set of high stakes examinations, a major critique of the Indian schooling system, but rather a new Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Students leaving school at the end of class X still take certificate examinations.
Also known or called the Secondary School Certificate, a matriculation certificate is a certificate of proof awarded to students who have successfully cleared their class 10th examination. The matriculation exams are indeed one of the most common and entry-level exams in India. This is because the number of seats for students enrolled in class 10th is generally more than the number of students enrolled in class 11th making the matriculation certificate and matriculation exams the most common and accepted in India.
