Go to F-Droid.org and download F-Droid Store. Next open F-Droid store on your mobile and find Aurora Store. Install Aurora Store on your device. Now you can open Aurora Store and use Anonymous session to download and install Google apps (including Brave browser) without authorizing the google account.

Hello. I'm a long time Poweramp user (bought it ages ago on a SonyEriccson phone with Android 4). Lately I'm trying to de-google my life as much as I can, but there is one problem, my favourite music app (Poweramp of course) was bought on Google Play. Using LineageOS on my main phone with no Google I wasn't able to use it (and if I installed Google Play and then removed it, Poweramp V2 at the time, would deactivate after a while) so I just used other players for a few years now. Now I got a new phone from my employer and even though I could probably mod this one as well, I'd rather keep it stock. Having Google and everything already on the phone, I could reinstall Poweramp from Play store using my original Google account. So I did to try out V3 on the new phone (it was still at beta last time I actually used it).

In theory the licence won't need to be checked again, but there are lots of situations which could trigger a re-check (system resets, updates, etc) so I wouldn't rely on a Play Store purchase continuing to work forever without the Play Store being present.

As you say, you can purchase from the website as that's not connected with the Play Store and can work without gapps. They are not linked though, you can't migrate from one to the other. Website purchases are for a single device at a time by the way; if you install on a new system the old device's licence status is revoked.

@MRK17 When license is stored on the device (you can see this status in Poweramp Settings / About) you free to remove Unlocker and Google Services (this will also disable Chromecast casting). The license will stay until Poweramp is completely reinstalled without data being kept or you otherwise reset Poweramp data.

Actually, once license is "stored on the device" (which happens for the website version immediately after entering correct data in "Already purchased?"), it's possible to update with the next Google Play Poweramp version over website version as license is on the device and recognized by any Poweramp version.

Yeah, if you sideload the Play Store distribution build without "purchasing it on Play Store", it's possible to make Play store automatically update PA. But you won't be able to install unlocker from Play Store unless you repurchase it from there.

To support my case: after pressing INSIDE Google Drive to install the apps without opening Play Store, the download starts. During the download I've opened the Play Store to check and:

I know I can download the app from other app stores, side load the app etc. Can I purchase the app within the app? Can I purchase the app from Malwarebytes if I have it installed? Can I download the app from Malwarebytes, pay for the app from Malwarebytes? Or again, do I need Google, Google Play, GCM etc. to process the payment and for it to function correctly?

We have not tested the app on phones without Google Play on it because it's an unsupported scenario. So it may work, but if any issues arise, we would unfortunately be unable to assist. We do use more than just the Google Cloud Messaging feature of Google services.

So i've been thinking about cutting some more of the cord with google and has been thinking about reinstalling Lineage but without any google apps, but i'm wondering if it's possible to still use apps like Youtube if i install them trough like UpToDown or some other 3rd-party store. I've heard some issues about having to install Google Play Services, but is there some way to get around that?

I somehow destroyed Google Play Services while clearing cache n search history cause Play Store kept hanging up indefinitely when trying to download apps. My Google account then kept pinging the phone for play services updates; to remedy the loop I had to remove my Google account.

I once had a similar problem but in my case i caused because i tampered with the system. Have you tried downloading playservices from an external site. If the playservices you downloaded doesnt work correctly (in my case it gave me the "force stopped" error), you need to install a new firmware which will fix all bugs.

Alternative: GrapheneOS (@GrapheneOS): "The full variant of the Google Maps app is one of the few Google apps largely working without Play services. With the latest advances in the sandboxed Play services compatibility layer, it also works with that installed with more functionality available. Still issues to resolve."nitter.it

Google has removed apps from the Play store for a number of reasons, the most common being that they violate the company's policy. Once an app is removed, however, all hope isn't lost. You may not have been aware that apps no longer available in the Play store can still be installed on your Android device through a process known as "sideloading."

From your smartphone or tablet running Android 4.0 or higher, go to Settings, scroll down to Security, and select Unknown sources. Selecting this option will allow you to install apps outside of the Google Play store. Depending on your device, you can also choose to be warned before installing harmful apps. This can be enabled by selecting the Verify apps option in the Security settings.

For example, Grooveshark, a free online music streaming service, previously had an app in the Play store. After a dispute with Google, however, the app was removed. Grooveshark now offers the app on its Web site for users to sideload.

Most people don't trust Google and many of my friends too. So, they don't have Google Play ac/gmail ac for privacy reasons, Bitdefender Antivirus showed a dialog box displayed "app won't run without Google play services... - update".

No problem to install Bitdefender Mobile Security from Play Store (maybe apart from info that I install also purchases in this app) but it does not work after installing without Google Play Store - info from technical service in Poland.

Before that I was using the regular flavor of Lineage without microG nor GApps for more than one year and I would say it was 70% functional (being maps of my runs the big missing piece, as they would not be displayed and/or the app would crash when trying to open them).

"Aurora store" is another alternative store that contains *the same apps* as the original Google Play Store (app checksums are exactly the same, thus you can be sure there is no "extra" undesired malware).

Hi Daniel, many thanks for your reply. Is there no way to send the users a direct APK or IPA they can install on their devices? We are using AppGyver on SAP BTP to build an internal app for business users, and so wish to circumvent the app store in this process. Is that at all possible?

Hi @wesselt. 1Password for Android is exclusively distributed through the Play Store. We don't currently provide the APK installation file directly, or through alternative app stores, as 1Password requires Google Play services for some of its functionalities. That said, if you have a 1Password account, you can access your account from 1Password .com on your Huawei device: -com-items/

This means - in theory - that I should be able to use DroneDeploy on the Moverio as well without any issue. However, having obtained the APK from one of my other Android devices, while it installs just fine on the Moverio, I cannot get it to start. The DroneDeploy app immediately force-closes after half a second or so of just showing a white screen. There is no error message whatsoever.

And can I encourage the developers strongly to look into publishing DroneDeploy in the Moverio App Store, for one, and/or Amazon App Store respectively, so it can be used with and updated on devices without the Google Play Store (including e.g. Amazon Fire Tablets).

I tried to get the firefox browser without using playstore with your instructions. However, all it did was send a link to an email that required me to download it from the playstore.
Can you give me information on what I missed?

We cannot get a google account because our landline neither sends nor receives text messages. We are in process of setting up and testing a cell phone, and would like to load Firefox for Android as the browser. We cannot download from google play because google demands to send a text-message "verification" code. We note, thankfully, that Mozilla does not (stupidly) do likewise to set up a Firefox account.

'Decided to go with Firefox. Downloaded latest version from archive. It works fine -- better than Chrome which I disabled -- but, Paul is right, it will not update without Play (Mozilla's choice). Add-ons seem to be working fine. I will plan to watch the archives for newer versions for eventual "updates." Thanks for your help.

The advantage of sideloading is that you can distribute your application more quickly and without going through the review process of the Play Store. This is especially useful when your application is intended for a limited group of users. On the other hand, users must opt-in for installing unknown apps from their device which is a little more complex than just downloading the app from the Play Store.

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

The above steps allow your browser to get apps from sources other than Google Play.
