Back in March, the contributors of Pallimed got together for a hard conversation. We were only missing a few people but it was still a sizable gathering at a restaurant late one evening in New Orleans. We have met at Academy meetings before, really to check in with each other and how all of us were doing in our professional and personal lives. But this was a little different. None of us were posting with much regularity for the previous 18 months. Compared to where we were in 2008, 2009, and 2010 we all recognized we had many more responsibilities and working on Pallimed really didn't always fit into our schedule despite the best of our intentions.
But there was a different spark that night, different from years past. This spark was probably brighter because of the darkness from being dormant for much of 2011 and 2012. We challenged each other to not let this great opportunity to fall by the wayside. With the knowledge and wisdom from our schooling and clinical experiences, we recognize there is also a responsibility to share information, to engage in a conversation which can change the world before any one person becomes our patient. Pallimed is a strong platform for sharing and we realized we did not want to just keep it to ourselves, so we are now reaching out to many new voices, including yours.
I'm asking you, whoever you may be, reading this post to join me in walking down the road that leads to awesome.

To solve the current murder, the 1940 and 1963 murders must be revisited and re-examined. American writing in colonial days, as has been seen, dealt largely with religion. In the last 30 years of the 18th century, however, people turned their attention from religion to the subject of government. These were the years when the colonies broke away from England and declared themselves a new and independent nation. It was a great decision for Americans to make. Feeling ran high, and people expressed their opinions in a body of writing that, if not literature in the narrow sense, is certainly literature in the sense of its being great writing.
Needless to say, the landscape of the city was less than ideal for the kind of street reporting I knew. To merely venture out, by foot or by car, was to risk being confronted by the armed men stationed at a convoluted pattern of checkpoints throughout Tripoli. And then there was the matter of our security team. Though they had been assigned to us with the help of the Red Crescent, a little googling showed that the firm they worked for seemed to be run by a former Libyan military official accused of war crimes. Were they actually government minders monitoring our doings? Militia members themselves? Did it matter?
We were excited that our efforts might end on a fruitful note and proposed to our security team that we go to a restaurant for a celebratory dinner. There was a good Turkish place across town. Ian stayed behind at the Royal Gardens; his teenage son needed help with his homework over Zoom.

This was oftentimes at the expense of others, and it sometimes overpowered the love she had for those close to her and was confused as greed and arrogance, ultimately driving those she loved away.

She and Evelyn went to hell and heaven in this earth just to be together with so many years of separation. So many years of being away from each other tormented their sould yet when they were together their love could break everyone's heart. Evelyn Hugo had seven husbands. Seven husbands yet her most passionate love was for her partner, her wife she married on a bed in Spain in their nightgowns. That was the love they had. It burned them yet it kept them alive. Celia's death was a huge emotional disrupture for strong hearted Evelyn. She barely could keep herself straight without bawling her eyes out. That was why she was clicked by the paparazzis bawling holding Harry's grave on the day of Celia's funeral. She cried over the days, months, years she lost because of their pride. She cried because she didn't have Harry's shoulder to cry. She cried for the struggle she faced all of her life just to stand produly and in the midst loosing herself. Yet the paparazzis named the shots as Evelyn crying for her ex-husband, Harry Cameron. This was a ride awakening for her, as she realized no one would know about her story and her passionate, heartbreakingly breathtakingly lovestory with Celia. Hence she formed the plan to ask Monique Grant to write up her biography. Every secrets she hid from the world inside her already stone turned heart in the absence of Celia.
The only child of Evelyn, Connor and Evelyn have an incredibly close relationship. She and her mother had decided to never bullshit each other and always tell the truth, especially after Harry Cameron passed away due to drunk driving. They believed in each other and had a strong trust. In 2015, Connor was diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer at 39. Though she went through chemo therapy, it wasn't enough. She later passed at 41, leaving Evelyn absolutely shattered.
John was the fake husband of Celia St. James. In actuality, John was gay and dating Harry, even when Celia split from Evelyn, thus asking John for a divorce, he still stayed with Harry. Evelyn says he didn't smoke despite everyone else doing so, and describes him as a tall, football-playing man.

Billy Chemirmir stalked and killed the elderly. During a two-year rampage of terror, Billy Chemirmir made his way through independent living facilities near Dallas Texas, suffocating victims, stealing their jewelry. Despite this horrid trail of death and theft, he kept on getting away with it because facilities and institutions designed to protect these residents failed repeatedly. And they wrote off the murders as innocent, unattended deaths. The families involved were often told their loved ones had died peacefully from natural causes. Ageism is rampant in America, often with devastating impacts on the victims. But in the case of Billy Chemirmir, the ageism was quite literally fatal. This is a very, very hard story to tell. But these deaths cannot be forgotten. A murder rampage committed by a mad man, but enable by age-bias must never happen again.
