Current Gen10 and future server generations no longer require an active warranty or support agreement for downloading Gen10 SPP (2019.12.0 and later releases only) or System ROM firmware.
I can only guess that the comment from Mark (HPE) indicates that HPE has seen a loss in market share since they made this policy and it has taken some time to come back and bite - especially when you consider the lifecycle orgs would follow with this type of gear. And Second hand wise it made a large quantity of HPE kit essentially hot garbage in my opinion.
A very common approach is to piggy-back software patching onto the process described above. You are probably going to need upgraded drivers anyway, so use whatever process you have to do software patching and when the system reboots, firmware gets upgraded as well as the software. I have found vSphere Update Manager to be adequate for this. Assuming you have Fully Automated DRS and VMs that are vMotion capable, this is a single touch process. Maybe zero touch if you automate it. At the very least, you are looking at only one reboot instead of two.
What it will do is poll the registered OneView Appliance(s) every 5 minutes. As long as the host has a profile in OneView and is part of the iSUT registered vCenter, Firmware will be staged automatically by the iSUT Appliance we have setup. Any changes to the Firmware Baseline in OneView leads to an automated staging of the firmware defined in that baseline. You just need to monitor it in OneView. This is what a successful update looks like (read from the bottom up):
A quick hipshot to Google showed up a promising result. My friend Andreas Lesslhumer from
running-system.com just had this issue recently, so he created a blog post to help us others when we should encounter this issue too. In his post it was all about System ROM and iLO firmware versions and compatibility. It looks that the recent iLO firmware 2.50 (which is included in the HPE Service Pack for ProLiant April 2017) has some issues.
We then unplugged the storage completely and did also a complete storage shutdown. We also removed the power cables and let it spin down for a moment. After we bootet up the storage again, we checked if the server boots with each controller. And it did! Shutting down the storage and making it powerless helped!
We did some final test after all the firmware upgrades and were finally able to properly boot the servers and to get the domain controller and vCenter back up and running. After that we successfully bootet all other VMs without any issues.
I've installed a recent Debian 10 Buster system on to the server, which is HPE DL360 Gen9. It has P440ar adapter, which works with the "new" hpsa driver. As far as I remember, RAIDs were configured with built-in "pre-boot" GUI utility. All firmwares were updated to their most recent versions, so I believe that utility was also most recent version.
hpsa arrays are managed with the hpssacli utility (the old hpacucli supports a cciss driver, which isn't applicable for me). I have a wrapper script which runs from Zabbix agent, it is able to discover and query state of each array in the system, that script just calls hpssacli, parses and adapts its output for Zabbix. I've doing that for ages.
While this doesn't seem to prevent my script to monitor a controller state, I also want to be able to manage it from the operating system, to be able to add drives and create more arrays without stopping a system in the future.
At the moment there is no specific version for Debian buster, but the stretch package should work just fine. To be able to install it with apt etc., create a file e.g. /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mcp.list and insert the following lines into that file:
Thanks so much, this is a very useful resource. Everybody who like me has to search HP for firmware, then try to figure out how to extract relevant files from iso-scexe-whatsoever strange archives, will agree ? I hope this effort will continue. Thanks again, Paul
This is a great resource; HPE is absolutely making it more and more difficult to be their customer with failing web site; failing Intelligent Provisioning firmware updates and failing ftp site. Thank you for putting this together!
hello o want to update ilo3 on dl380 g7 to the latest version but because my ilo version is 1.15 i cant do it . i understand that i need to install 1.20 first and then the latest one . but nowhere even here i couldnt find ilo 3 1.20 . can you please help me ?
Many thanks, this is the only internet place where I can found ILO 2 latest firmware.
They are disappeared from hp site, I think they must write less infringement coiright letters and better organize their downloads!
thanks for all the latest firmwares, keep up the good work!
but having a strange issue with ilo3 1.89
uploads fine and flashes fine, but when run the web applet after downloaded,
im getting an error saying
Ignored exception: ExitException[ 3]com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: _231.jar

The Fixes sections on the website says:
iLO 4 version 2.75(b) was released with a packaging update. The update does not affect the firmware functionality. If version 2.75 was previously deployed to target device, then it is not necessary to update to version 2.75(b)
binary firmware files are identical in both versions:

Please make it clear at the top of the page that these images are for the HP ProLiant ILO series only. HP Integrity servers also have ILO and ILO2, but the Integrity ILO images are incompatible with the ProLiant ILO images. Otherwise a great page of ILO image links!
Good night, I have an ML150 Gen9 with an expired warranty contract and I need to update the BIOS, mine is version 2.60 (P95) does anyone have above it to update? I need to install windows server 2016 or 2019.
Did you notice that as part of the latest SPP for Gen10 a version 2.42 of the firmware for iLO 5 is included (cp046458.exe)?
The only way I can find to download the file is by downloading the SPP.
Thank you, It really is a pain that HP have a habit of re-organising their sites such that they break links.
I can usually find the firmware after several searches and the opening of several tabs, but this really makes life far easier.

For those of you who want to extract the firmware from the Linux rpm package, gnutar is able to extract all the files from the Linux download. macos version of tar seems to be gnutar and can also extract all the files. You can see below.
Just wanted to say that not being a sys admin with any experience of server maintenance, with your post, I managed to solve the issue of my gen8 server fans going completely bonkers (it even caused 3 fans to fail)
