Deshpande's in TRC

Hi TRC folks,

On the subject of including Deshpandes (Samir,Vaishali) to our TRC group we (Beena and I) gave it some thought and  had a few comments/questions.

BLUF(Bottom Line Up Front)- Our vote is 'No'.

A few disclaimers-

1. Deshpandes are our good friends since about 1997-1998 so that is not really an issue.

2. I don't want this email to make us the 'bad guys'. We have nothing against anyone but just the principle of this group.

Here are some points we would like to address

1. When we started this NEW TRC group (after some no shows, drop outs etc.) I thought we decided that it would be a small group so that EVEN if all accepted an invite, we could accommodate them in a restaurant. Why are we increasing that number? What is the limit to these additions? 

2. Many of our other common friends have shown an interest in being part of our TRC. We never discussed those folks. Then why are we taking this sudden vote to include Deshpandes (who have not been in this area for the past 6+ years)?

3. Typically we revisit our TRC schedule/group at the end of the year (i.e. after all families are done with their turn). Again, why are we taking this sudden vote on the Deshpande inclusion at this time?

4. I don't know if all in our current TRC group know them as well (just a hunch, each can speak for themselves), which begs the question....will they fit in the group that we currently have? 

Pending clarity on the above points our humble vote to inclusion of anyone (not just Deshpandes) will be NO.

There is not need to justify one's decision - either Yes or No. 

The Kuranes have brought up interesting points.

We should discuss them as  a group soon.

For the record -

1.

I had proposed to include Samir and Vaishali Deshpande to TRC.

We needed a unanimous vote.

The voting was (in the order votes received) -

YES (Dewal-Khare, Phansalkar, Patankar, Bendre, Agashe, Atitkar, Gharpuray, Gokhale)

vs

NO (Kurane)

The proposal is not accepted as there is no unanimous vote.

So at this time the process on my proposal is completed - Samir and Vaishali Deshpande are not included in TRC.

2.

Kuranes have stated their doubts about the integrity of TRC, it's process, etc. (to each their own).  TRC members may have discussion on it when those items are proposed for discussion (by a separate proposal) at a venue, time decided by all and where there is a prescribed quorum.
