Dear ADD40 Committee members and friends,
I have an important update regarding the organization of the 2020 conference on "Sustainability and New Transportation Technologies" (final title TBD) that the ADD40 committee is co-organizing with ADB20 committee the Effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on Travel Choices. As you noticed, we did not have a call of the organizing committee this month. During this time, Giovanni Circella (ABD20 Chair) and I have been in contact with TRB to finalize the dates of this conference.
The final proposed dates for this conference are June 16-18, 2020 at the Beckman Center in Irvine, CA. Unfortunately, the Beckman Center was not available in May 2020, which was the original time we had discussed.
So, I have two requests for you:
1. Do you know of any critical conflicts with other conferences in these June 2020 dates (e.g., impact a significant number of ADD40 members, other important reasons to avoid)? Scheduling a conference is very complex, so are trying confirm the dates ASAP unless anybody is aware of *major* conflicts with other important events we should avoid.
2. Please let me know if you are interested in being part of the organizing committee for this conference. I realize that many of you are already on my list and have been already receiving news about it from either Giovanni or me. However, please reply to this email to re-/confirm your interest to volunteer for the conference organizing committee. With two committees supporting the conference, I expect we will have enough people to make the total workload very manageable for committee members.
I will pass the list of volunteers to Bill Anderson from TRB, who will start organizing the following calls of the organizing committee.
We plan to resume our regular monthly calls in early May. Moving forward we will use the official TRB infrastructure for this, instead of relying exclusively on our volunteering organization skills. This will give us much more structure and organization moving forward.
Thank you all in advance for your help,
Regards,
