TRIS News is posted quarterly to highlight recent changes and updates to the TRIS Databases, especially TRID and RIP, as well as services provided by TRB’s Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) and the TRB Library.

Research in Progress (RIP) Webinar

TRID and RIP Enhancements
Enhanced Date Limits
Advanced search filters in both TRID and RIP now provide more customized and precise date-range searching.

Use the Custom date range slider to specify how far back you’d like to search with a wider range of selections now available. OR use the before and after boxes to indicate your date range.
In RIP, you can search by:
Enhanced Record Functionality
When opening individual records in TRID or RIP, you will now see a ‘Copy URL’ button that allows you to quickly copy/paste a URL to that specific record in TRID or RIP.

TRB Publications Indexed in TRID
Forty-eight reports published by TRB were added to TRID in the 3rd quarter of 2024.
Transportation Research Thesaurus Actions
Ten new TRT terms were added this quarter: Driving cycles; Long haul; Noise, vibration, and harshness; Object detection; Energy efficiency; Smart cities; Pain; Warfare; Recidivists; and Transit deserts.
Three terms were changed: Mattresses (foundations) was changed to Marine mattresses; Car clearances (Railroads) was changed to Railroad clearances; Wheelsets (Railroads) was changed to Railroad wheelsets. Drag factor (Chemistry) was deprecated.
