Hello Members and Friends,

I am still assembling the notes from our meeting but will have materials out in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are two research-related actions to look at/take now!

1. Complete Streets AI sites - act by 1/31!
The USDOT Complete Streets AI Initiative is a $15 million multi-phase effort funding small businesses to develop powerful new data collection and decision-support tools for state, local and tribal transportation agencies that assists in the siting, design, and deployment of Complete Streets.

Phase II is approaching and teams will need to find 25 new geographies to pilot their data collection and analysis tools. If you want to be considered as a potential pilot site, sign up here before Jan 31: https://lnkd.in/en_r4i3c

2. Practitioner Survey for NCHRP 08-163
Toole Design and VHB are leading an NCHRP project that is seeking to understand the applications of design guidance on the safety, comfort, and accessibility of active transportation users (e.g., people walking, biking, rolling, and using micromobility devices). The research is for NCHRP 08-163: Defining Appropriate Design and Accommodation Thresholds for Active Transportation in a Context-Driven Approach.

As part of this project, we are surveying practitioners on the ways that design guidance or design flexibility have been applied to projects or served as barriers in active transportation projects. We are also interested in identifying possible case study project locations.

The practitioner survey is estimated to take about 10 minutes to complete. The survey is linked here: https://bit.ly/nchrp08163

If you have any questions, please contact the Principal Investigator, Jeremy Chrzan, at jch...@tooledesign.com

Stay warm and safe, those of you caught up in snow, ice, and/or deep freeze,
Stephanie

One more item I failed to include. Danielle Elkins had shared this on a postcard during the Annual Meeting, but here it is as digital text now:

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority GoMentum Innovation Alliance is seeking input from individuals and organizations involved in or interested in workforce development within the transportation and mobility technology industry. Your feedback is essential for understanding the current landscape and identifying gaps in skills and resources and guiding the development of targeted programs that support and create a future workforce utilizing technology innovations to enhance public transportation. CCTA is particularly looking for a few city representatives to complete the assessment from the municipal employee perspective, in cities where mobility technology (automation, connectivity, electrification, digitization, and interoperability of systems) is a priority. Email me at dani...@civicideation.com or sign up HERE.
