Cities Council at TRB Annual Meeting 2025

Hello Members and Friends of the City Transportation Issues Coordinating Council,

Happy New Year! The TRB Annual Meeting is nearly upon us and I'm sharing updates on our activities finally. We are in for a busy Monday:

• Council meeting: Mon, Jan 6, 10:15am - 12pm - agenda and calendar invite attached.
  
  • Virtual option: Teams
  • In person: Liberty Salon M on level M4 of the Marriott Marquis (bottom basement level) 
    • Note that committee/council meetings are open to all, regardless of conference registration (for any locals who want to join in person!)
• Our sponsored sessions - both on Monday
  • Session 2007: Approaches to Improving the Selection of, Access to, and Travel Within Parks - Mon, Jan 6, 8:00-9:45am 
    • Led by the Standing Committee on Transportation Needs of National Parks and Public Lands (AEP20)
  • Session 2168: Roadway Digital Infrastructure and Cities - Mon, Jan 6, 3:45-5:30 pm
    • This is our one lectern session we organize each year! Come hear from city peers about how they are thinking about digital infrastructure in cities and what they are exploring through pilots and implementation.

In addition I am sharing an invite from the FHWA/UCLA Center of Excellence on New Mobility and Automated Vehicles. They'll be speaking at our Council meeting as well but these events will give you more information.  Please contact Jiaqi Ma, Center Director, if you have any questions. 

1. Mobility COE Information Session 
Date: Mon, Jan 6, 3-5pm
Location: Convention Center Room 303

This session will provide an overview of the Mobility COE’s purpose, activities to date, research plan, and ongoing projects. It is an excellent opportunity to:

• Learn about the COE’s initiatives and research priorities.
• Network with COE leadership and researchers.
• Explore opportunities for collaboration on COE-funded research.

Whether you are from an agency or industry with research needs or a researcher interested in contributing to COE-funded initiatives, we encourage you to join us.

2. Mobility COE Reception

Date: Tuesday, January 7, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM ET
Location: Busboys and Poets, 450 K St NW, Washington, DC, United States

This reception will provide a more informal setting to network with Mobility COE researchers, discuss future collaborations, and connect with others passionate about advancing mobility innovation.
