Members and Friends of the TRB Major Cities Committee,

We had a great meeting this year at the TRB Annual Meeting - packed room and lots of new friends. Welcome all!

A few items for follow-up:

1. We want to get to know our friends better - please take this survey by February 14th

2. Attached here are the draft minutes from our January 13th committee meeting, held during the Annual Meeting. The minutes can also be found on the Major Cities website document repository (scroll down a bit). Please send comments or changes to the minutes to me at stephan...@dc.gov by Friday, Feb. 14th.

3. Our mid-year meeting is in Miami, FL at the TRB Asset Management Conference. The meeting will be Sunday, April 27, 2014, 3:30pm - 5:30pm (Eastern). We will have conference call capabilities for this meeting. More information on the conference can be found here: http://bit.ly/1bhQ7US.

4. Lastly, we have been asked to share information on an upcoming conference this summer in China:

14th COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (CICTP2014)

TRB, ASCE, World Bank, and the Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) are co-sponsoring the 14th COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (CICTP2014, click the link to the conference website for information and paper submission) on July 4-7, 2014, in Changsha, China. A post-conference workshop will also be held in either Beijing or Shanghai, China. The CICTP conference is the most influential gathering of transportation professionals in China, and regularly draws more than 1,000 attendees including hundreds of international experts. The CICTP2014 is designed to address critical issues and challenges emerging from the development of safe, smart and sustainable multimodal transportation systems. The conference will provide a platform for exchanging and sharing of the international experiences in developing and applying innovative solutions and advanced technologies in transportation.

In addition to regular technical sessions, several plenary sessions are planned for internationally prestigious experts and scholars to discuss the state-of-the-art/practice transportation development. Other special forums will be focused on issues that are of great interest to the audience of various backgrounds, including the World Bank Transportation Development Forum, Deans’ Forum for Chinese University Transportation Schools, and COTA Professional Development Forum for Young Scholars and Students, TRB Committee Chairs’ Forum, Industry Forum, and Technology Exhibit.

You may visit the conference website for more information (http://cictp.csu.edu.cn). More information about COTA can be found at http://cota-home.org. If you plan to present at the conference with or without a paper, please contact Dr. Yafeng Yin (yaf...@ce.ufl.edu) and Dr. Jianming Ma (mjm...@gmail.com) directly.
