Hello Friends and Members of the City Transportation Issues Coordinating Council,

With Thanksgiving nearly here, it means final preparations for the TRB Annual Meeting are in full swing!  We have a Council meeting, our city DOT leadership roundtable, and several workshops we've co-sponsored to look forward to! Useful details:
  • Council meeting: Tues, Jan 10, 1:30-3:15 - agenda coming soon.
    • Virtual option via Teams (with invite attached)
    • In person is in Liberty Salon M on level M4 (the bottom basement) of the Marriott Marquis
  • Session 4048 - City DOT Leadership Roundtable: Automated Vehicles Are on Our Streets, Now What? - Wed, Jan 10, 10:15am - 12pm
    • Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have begun to test and deploy more widely in cities and reports from San Francisco and beyond have brought this topic to the forefront for many. What happens when the rubber meets the road and AI meets your city's streets? Join this roundtable discussion with leadership from major cities (SF, Seattle, Nashville, New York).
  • Co-sponsored sessions
    • Workshop 1006 (Sun AM) - Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Fusion: Learning from Each Other
    • Workshop 1011 (Sun AM) - City and State Electrification: A Fully Charged Discourse on Resilience and Safety
    • Workshop 1012 (Sun AM) - Open Innovation: Public-Sector Engagement with the Private Sector to Advance Innovation
    • Lectern 3183 (Tues PM) - Tourism Impact on the Urban Road Network
    • Workshop 5006 (Thurs AM) - Mitigating the Implications of Increasing Vehicle Size and Mass on Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety
  • Let's make a city-oriented curated program! As you are perusing the program and spot sessions that this group would be interested in, please add them to our crowdsourced list.
If you have anything you really want to see covered in our Council meeting agenda, please let me know!

Happy holidays,
Stephanie Dock

Agenda update: I want your input on what we should do. There are A LOT of people on this list and I want to lure as many of you to attend and get something out of our nearly 2 hour slot. So please take my quick survey for your thoughts.

Also - correction to text in original message. Our Council meeting is on Tuesday, January 9th (not the 10th as I accidentally put above).

Thanks, all! Happy Thanksgiving to our US friends.

Happy New Year!

The Annual Meeting is next week! I'm happy to share the now mostly-finalized agenda for our meeting on Tuesday, January 9 at 1:30pm ET. The council-sponsored sessions are on the second page, for quick reference. The agenda is now also in the online program for those using the app/website.

Also a reminder to add any sessions you spot for our city-oriented curated program

Looking forward to seeing those of you heading to DC. Safe travels!

Friends and members,

Thank you for a great Council meeting yesterday! I wanted to share a huge thank you to Jeff Davis, Allen Greenberg, and William Chernicoff. I jam packed the agenda a bit too much and we didn't get much (any) time for Q&A, but it was really interesting. More to come with minutes and other follow-up but I wanted to share the presentations as quickly as possible so folks can use what they heard.

The presentations are now posted to our website (3rd bullet under the 2024 Annual Meeting): http://www.trbmajorcities.org/committee_docs/

Also, at the very end, Darren Buck with FHWA shared some bike/ped research-related updates and he passed along the links to the resources he mentioned:
And we had cards to hand out about the TRB 2nd Conference on Advancing Transportation Equity.

Finally - I botched the sign in process for folks and didn't put back up the QR code/page link to the attendance survey. If you came and want to sign in belatedly, please do so here.

Hope your TRB is finishing well! More to come this year :)

Stephanie
