Greetings,

The National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) is developing a “Research Roadmap for the AASHTO Council on Active Transportation.” The project’s objectives include:

  • Documenting existing and ongoing research in active transportation, along with documenting research needs.
  • Prioritizing research needs based on practice
  • Developing a research roadmap for the AASHTO Council on Active Transportation to use to “focus its efforts to foster, support, monitor, disseminate, and implement research on active transportation.”

To help achieve these objectives, the research team is asking active transportation practitioners to provide feedback on a list of research needs that the project team has identified in the literature. We would like you to take the linked survey on the importance of research into various active transportation topics for your practice. The survey asks you if potential active transportation research topics should be included as essential research needs for AASHTO. The results will be compiled in a final report to inform research needs prioritization.

If you do want to provide your input, please complete the survey linked below by 5pm (PST) on Wednesday, July 8th. The survey is completely voluntary and you may choose not to participate.

Survey on research needs for AASHTO CAT research roadmap

This survey will take approximately 30 minutes.  You can skip over any question or stop taking the survey at any time. You also have the option to save and continue. Please be sure to “submit” your survey to signal you have completed it.

We will ask your agency type and role in implementing research, but not specifics about your identity. You will have the option to include your email if you would like additional information on the project but may also reach out directly to the project team at the email provided.

Additional information about the project can be found on the NCHRP website:  https://apps.trb.org/cmsfeed/TRBNetProjectDisplay.asp?ProjectID=4808. If you have any questions about this request, please let me know by e-mail or by phone at (503) 725-5173.
