Description:

Building on the success of a focus session conducted as part of the 2013 Summer Meeting and Conference of the Freight, Marine, and Planning Committees, this workshop will bring together representatives from private industry, government, and academia to discuss relevant issues and present research on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) fuel moving freight via the nation's highways, waterways and rail systems. 

 

The workshop will examine the policy implications, technology adoption issues, and the necessary infrastructure and delivery systems to enable and support the propagation of LNG as an readily available fuel for freight transportation.

 

The event will be held one day before the Mid-Year Meeting of the Freight Systems and Marine Group Committees (May 14-15, 2014)

 

Potential topics:

  • Modes:  Marine / Rail / Trucking 
  • Policy, Regulation, Governance, Incentives, Tax Implications/Highway Funding
  • Public Perception, NIMBY Issue on facility locations
  • Availability/Delivery Infrastructure/Stations and Bunkering
  • Technology/Viable Scenarios (short haul/long haul)/Physical Limitations/Safety Issues
