Subject: National Cooperative Rail Research Program

We are now hearing that invitations to oversight board members are underway. So, the initiation of the program, with a meeting of the board to consider proposals, may be imminent.

I encourage you and your members to submit their proposals, as soon as possible, using the attached template.  NCRRP proposals may be entered into the TRB database later, with the consensus of the sponsoring standing committees.

As research needs statements that are presently in the TRB database may not necessarily be considered, restatement and submittal of relevant RNSs on the template is recommended.

A copy of a power point presentation given by Chris Jenks (TRB – Cooperative Research Programs) to SCORT in March is also attached for your reference.  Of particular interest, the presentation includes a list of the proposals received as of that date.
