Dear COR,
Please see the below message from Katie Turnbull, Chair of the Executive Committee Subcommittee on Planning and Policy Review, and by next Friday, 2/14/20, please let me know if you would like to volunteer to help with this effort and if you plan (doesn't necessarily have to be approved yet) on attending the AVS 2020 meeting in San Diego, July 2020.
Thank you so much for all your efforts!
Sue

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Breakout Session at AVS 2020 on Innovative Research Methods
Hau and Susan - I hope all is well with both of you and 2020 is starting off well, especially the TRB Annual Meeting.
As Chair of the Executive Committee Subcommittee on Planning and Policy Review (SPPR), I helped with the new TRB Strategic Plan. One of the action items focuses on exploring innovative research methods, including the possibility of a workshop on innovative research methods. The Conduct of Research Committee is obviously a key part moving this action item forward.
I have talked with Rich and Katherine about a possible breakout session on the topic at the AVS 2020 in San Diego in July. It would build on the TRB Forum on Preparing for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility Workshop 3 in May 2019 that Hau participated in.
Would you be willing to have the Committee listed as a co-sponsor of the session proposal and help with the session if it selected (and if you are planning to go to AVS 2020)?
Please let me know if you have any questions on the idea - I would be happy to talk by phone.
Thanks!
Katie
