Hi once again from our world at Texas River Bass. The winter
duck season has ended on an up and down year. Drought conditions
and warm temperatures made for unusual migration reports up and
down the flyway. Most unusual, was the showing of many greenhead
mallards farther south than normal. At different times during the
season, we saw many different species come and go. At times we had
plenty of pintails, teal, shovelers. Then at other times we were
left watching empty sky. Tough conditions forced us to hunt in
unusual ways. Decoy shy birds would flare off of big spreads and
commit readily to pairs and small family groups. All in all, I met
a whole lot of great folks and hope to see them again next season.

Early spring is just about on us and we are about to turn our
attention back to catching some thick river bass. TRB will be
attending the Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Classic in Katy on Feb
18-19. Also slated for March; Fort Worth Flyfishers have invited me
for a slide show and seminar on Tuesday March 7. March 25-26 is the
6th annual Shallow Water Fishing Expo in Austin; where I will also
be giving a slide show, both days.

The Hill Country rivers are still pretty low after the drought
of last year. Ya'll pray for nice gentle spring rains to get us
back on track with a full aquifer.I am using a new cell phone these
days: 281 750 1343. Hope to see you at one of these future events
and check out pics I have attached. Thanks and
great fishing, Kelly Watson.
