Bill,
I could be mistaken, but I doubt if you'll have much success with the
Verizon hardware. Verizon uses CDMA technology, BaTelCo is GSM, so
AFAIK, the sim card you have from BaTelCo won't be recognized by the
Verizon hardware, the technologies are incompatible.
If you have a GSM device, you may be able to use the BaTelCo sim card,
but in most cases, the hardware is locked to the provider, so the
hardware won't recognize the alternate provider's sim card unless the
hardware is unlocked. Most providers are unwilling or uncooperative at
best when it comes to unlocking the hardware because the cost of the
hardware is subsidized in part by service contracts locking you into the
provider.
I hope you're not using your Verizon cell phone in the Bahamas at
$1.99/min. or whatever the outrageous roaming rate Verizon gets now. For
cell service, buy a cheap phone and a sim card from Batelco and just buy
minutes as you need them.
I could be in error, others on the list may have more current
information, but that's the latest I was aware of.
best of luck getting connected.
