Rise of the Reds is a Command and Conquer Generals Zero hour Mod. Some say it's the spiritual sequal to Generals. They have their own multiplayer integrated with the modification. A major thing is you need too make sure you have is your command and conquer generals updated to 1.8 and your generals zero hour to 1.4. Another important thing is after downloading and installing Rise of the reds 1.85 you'll need to download and install the Rise of the Reds 1.86 Patch.

What do you mean, do you not already have Generals? or lost your CD? because if you still have the key I can send you a place to download the data free, but you need to use your own CD key. I don't help out pirates but i understand not paying for a game twice. :)

Darn D: I know origin you can get it for cheap but cheap in the sense you're getting 17 games for like $20 USD. But I hear Origin has it's own little sets of problems I have a disc for The first decade from long time ago. But I do have a spare key for Vanilla Generals from when it came out in '03. If you want it even cheaper though Amazon is always selling old copies so those keys should work on the server since no one else should be on with those keys. Sorry if that wasn't much help.

It's active as far as such an old game goes, depending on the time I've seen no one on. and I've seen 22 people playing. but when you find a game, you can keep playing as long as they wanna keep playing, today I played three games with the same guy in 1v1 and a few other people had a 2v2 going on and a 3v3 comp stomp in another. hope that helped! :D

Units

  • Action Girl: One of the Venom units is piloted by a woman. There's also the Field Medic, who is armed with a submachine gun.Valkyrie: I'll send you back to the kitchen - in hell!
  • The Ahnold: The Manticore's driver.
  • Angry Guard Dog: The ECA uses German Shepherds which are effective for scouting and absolutely lethal against infantry.
  • Ax-Crazy: Lynx drivers and Wotan operators seem to be flat-out insane.
  • Beehive Barrier: The Manticore can create one to protect itself for a few seconds.
  • BFG: Venom suits are armed with either a high-powered automatic shotgun that can reduce infantry to shreds, or a powerful railgun sniper rifle that can One-Hit Kill vehicles.
  • Break Out the Museum Piece: In addition to potentially unlocking its stockpiles of neutron bombs and nerve gas, the ECA could deploy the Manticore Superheavy Tank, which is effectively a modernized version of the infamous Maus from the Second World War.
  • Death from Above: In addition to mortar and artillery defenses, the ECA can deploy Harrier jets and launch risky bombing runs on enemy positions. This is in no small part due to the Royal Air Force being just about the only organized one left that the ECA has.
  • Dumb Muscle:
  • Panzerfaust soldiers seem rather dim-witted, speaking slowly and being mainly concerned with the fact their guns are really heavy, in both senses of the word.
  • Likewise, the Manticore Tank pilots and the on-board AI assisting in piloting the tank itself count as this, as the AI doesn't seem to be particularly intelligent and the pilots themselves aren't above yelling at and arguing with said AI.
  • Fixed Forward-Facing Weapon: The Jagdmammut Tank Destroyer does not have a turret and must turn the whole vehicle to face an enemy.
  • Flechette Storm: Canister rounds are filled with tungsten shot and remarkably effective against infantry. The Gepard and Leopard also have canister bombs which launch automatically when enemy infantry like Terrorists come too close to the vehicle.
  • Freeze Ray: The Fenris uses a cooling laser, which freezes infantry to death, followed by shattering into pieces. Similarly, it disables vehicles by freezing their moving parts into place, similar to an EMP attack. It can also overcharge its weapon to outright kill the crews of manned vehicles (and disabling them for good measure), opening them up for capture by infantry.
  • Gatling Good: The Dutch-exclusive Goalkeeper CIWS.
  • Glass Cannon: The Pandora fires massive neutron shells that can easily wipe out an entire attack force several times its own price but it is slow, takes precious seconds to deploy and undeploy, has a noticeable minimum range and weak armour.
  • Hero Unit: Frank Jaeger is a Rebel Leader and commando, a "Huntsman" by name and by nature. He has two weapon options he can switch between, a FP-12H Shotgun and a CheyTac Intervention, letting him pose a credible threat to infantry and light vehicles at any range and clear out garrisons while staying concealed from heavy vehicles and other dangers he isn't armed to take out. But he's also a premiere base saboteur who can lay down demolition charges to destroy base buildings.
  • High-Tech Hexagons: The Nano Shock Absorbers that can be installed on various European vehicles have a hexagon-shaped tile pattern.
  • Improvised Weapon:
  • The Solaris satellites were not designed to be Kill Sats. During peace time, they were used to produce clean energy and direct sunlight onto farms.
  • The dreaded Pandora railgun is actually a military refit of an orbital payload accelerator used by the European Space Agency. In addition, it is implied that the nano repair foam used to fill the holes of damaged tank hulls upon activation of the Manticore protocol also serves to maintain European satellites in space.
  • Many of the ECA's upgrades and unlockable units, including the Venoms, are all but stated to be the result of experimental projects being hastily refitted for mass-production and front line service in the face of the Russian onslaught.
  • Mini-Mecha: The Venoms are meant to be space suits, though their operators are placed in a suspended pod.
  • Powered Armor: Infantry units also get exoskeletons after the Venom protocol is activated.
  • Purposely Overpowered: The Manticore, Pandora and Venom units can only be built one at a time (one each in case of the two Venom variants) because they are experimental. On the other hand, they are very powerful in return.
  • Rebel Leader: Frank Jaeger is the key mastermind behind all major resistance operations in and around Berlin.
  • Recursive Ammo: ECA artillery can be upgraded to shoot shells that explode into fragments, doing additional area damage per shot.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: Frank Jaeger's primary weapon is a pump action shotgun. Putting him inside a Pandur equips the vehicle with a massive canister cannon.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Tiger pilots often comment that they could use a cigarette in accordance with their 'French smoker' stereotype while Frank Jaeger seems to run out of smokes all the time.
  • Super Prototype: The Venom units are Purposely Overpowered Mini-Mecha compared to the upgraded infantry, which use rugged exoskeletons instead.
  • Tactical Superweapon Unit: Battlefield Prototypes are ultra-powerful and expensive units, limited to one per player (who can only rebuild them a minute after the previous one has been destroyed), that must be unlocked by a protocol only available to 5-star generals:
  • The Manticore Superheavy Tank possesses no less than three powerful weapon batteries (two 150mm cannons, a twin-linked autocannon for anti-air defense, and a missile pod for anything the other two can't handle), ridiculously tough armour (which can be further upgraded), and repair drones that spray healing Nano Machines on itself and any nearby friendly vehicles. It's basically a Maus made viable thanks to futuristic technologies.
  • The Pandora is a piece of superheavy artillery capable of destroying most vehicles with one blast and instantly killing infantry in a considerable radius with neutron radiation.
  • The Venom Mini-mecha can also only be fielded in limited numbers (one bristling-with-guns Valkyrie to take on whole armies, and one railgun-toting Viking for surgical strikes, making the total two suits). They field devastating weapons, but require micromanagement (Valkyries can only fire one weapon system at a time, and Vikings are snipers).
  • Trap Master: The Mole Minelayer is capable of creating lethal minefields in seconds. The update that introduced it depicted it as pure horror for the GLA. In addition, the ECA can also deploy large fields of anti-personnel, anti-tank and even anti-air mines by air, Tiger helicopters can spawn Icarus balloon mines and the Pandora can even place a neutron bomb as a stand-still bomb. Meanwhile the Smart Bomb does the same with a high-explosive warhead that gets upgraded to Neutron Bomb with the Pandora protocol.
  • Violent Glaswegian: The Grenadier is a Hot-Blooded soldier with a thick Scottish accent.
  • Zeppelins from Another World: The pre-assembled ECA battle groups available at the Deployment Zone are brought in by the CL 250 cargo airship. The backstory heavily implies that it is a distant offspring of the defunct 1990s era Cargolifter project that is now used by a number of civilian logistics companies. The airship is so large and majestic that the sultan of Oman even tried to order one for himself to turn it into a flying palace.

Generals Royal Guard General Willem van der Meer

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is described as calm and level-headed, but his area denial tactics are feared among the Russian forces.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: His likeness belongs to General Peter van Uhm, former chief-of-defence of the Royal Netherlands Army.
  • The Dreaded: The Russian armies have learned to fear this man, as his defensive tactics have have cost them more sweat and blood than any other general
  • The Engineer: He's mostly known for his battle fortifications and trickery in defence.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: In the eyes of eastern Europe, which found itself on the outside of the massive ECA border wall that he helped build.
