Yes the problem is more pronounced with 42 & 45 ft. units longer wheelbase, more weight bigger slide out openings less structure more flex. But let me stress all units flex just because you can not see the windshield moving don't mean that it is not. It is what you can't see that is causing the problem. A prime example of your coach flexing go outside of your unit have some one run an auto level sequence and look down your belt rail and watch the movement and that is attactched to the sidewall attached to the frame. Then imagine what the space where your windshield is if you took the front cap off and with little structre that opening is moving relitive to your sidewall and roof line. That is what twist caps and pop windshields. Terrill

Greetings, fellow Travel[ers] Supreme,I'm reading all of the complaints about windshields popping out and am thankful that has never happened to us. We have a 2004 38' DS04 [350 Cummins, 4 slides] and in travels all over the U.S., including from Ohio to Alaska and back, not one windshield issue. We do not have X-bracing and yet the coach handles just fine. My question: Has anyone else with a sub-40 ft. coach felt the need to do X-bracing or had windshield issues, or is the problem limited to the 40-45 ft. coaches? I would be interested to hear from those of us who have the shorter units.BTW, lest you think I just got on here to brag about our lack of problems, we got the all-electric version and have had MAJOR electrical issues from the time of delivery. Every time I think we've gotten things under control, something else happens! Still, we love our coach and love traveling in it. Please, let me hear from you if you have a less-than-40 ft. coach, or if
you have the all-electric version. Thanks!Lee & Karen

    Hi,
We have a 2004 40'Ds03, 54,000 miles never noticed any flexing of front glass area. However we are always very careful to keep the speed down when climbing over any curbs at an angle. When the auto leveler does it's thing it pretty much lowers everything down in sync and then makes small corrections until it is happy. No cross bracing and no such issues. From my reading of these forums it would seem we are talking about the coaches over 40' with the tag axles, cross bracing, windshield problems. We have not had to date any major issues and I have not seen anything I would like to replace it with.

I have a 2003 40DS02 with about 75,000 miles on it. When I bought the MH
from the previos owner, I had the cross bracing done after talking to the
previous owner. He had the windshield crack on the passenger side once
that I know of. So, I had the cross bracing done. I have had no problems
with windshields (knock on wood) and I do take it easy on uneven ground. I
also do NOT try to move the coach until the suspension has fully aired up.
I don't know whether any of this has made a real difference, but, in the
interest of my bank account, why take the chance. LOL

My coach is not the all electric version, but I do plan on
changing out the refrigerator within the next year for a residential style
unit since i rarely do any dry camping. Have not had any electrical
    problems to date.

We have a 2001 DS03 38' TS, got it new.  We have had the windshield pop out (upper driver's side) three times.  We didn't know anything about the x-bracing until two years ago.  3 summer's ago, when it popped out the last time, my husband, our friend and his friend, looked underneath the front and came up with a way to add additional metal tubes, welding them to the frame.  My husband also added 5/8" plywood (glued and screwed) up under the dash area with additional tubes.  He also removed our 60# tv and installed a LED tv.  He also found that the thin metal strip between the windshields wasn't attached at the top or bottom - which he fixed.  We didn't have any more problems for the last couple of years until this May, when a crack appeared in the pass side, near the side view mirror (almost looked like a wing window).  We had the windshield replaced.  Since we really don't know what the "x-bracing" is, I don't know if what we did is good enough or not.  I guess time will tell.  So, this shows that coaches under 40' have had this problem.
