I recently returned home from a trip across the upper Midwest on some
horrible Interstate roads. I stopped for fuel about 150 miles from
home and noticed the fiberglass panel that goes over the tires on the
passenger side of the coach had come loose at the rear of the panel.
I tried to see if it was a risk to drive and decided it wasn't so
made it home without any issues. After further inspection I can not
locate anything that has broken loose or any screws, etc. that have
pulled or broken out of the panel. Has anyone had a similar problem
and is this an owner fix or a body shop? I have an 08Select Limited.

Thanks

Look closer for loose or missing screws. I had 2-3 screws get loose on my
'08 Envoy, but caught them before they backed out entirely. I retightened
and haven't had the problem again. Good luck.

Steve

Thanks

Same with me.  That panel is bolted to the horizontal section of angled steel running along the bottom of the panel.

I did a successful experiment in my coach.  I had two problems.  1st is the fluorescent bulbs and ballast would often fail in my 2001 38DSSO2.  2ndly I like to camp without hookups, such as the NASCAR racetracks.  Not wanting to run my generator all the time (trying to be kind to my neighbors) I have to conserve my electrical use.  Although I did install a pair of solar panels to assist in power generation, I still have to conserve power.  My third problem is I wanted to keep all the original light fixtures.

I purchased several dozen of LED strips, removed the existing light fixtures, gutted them and installed the LED strips in their place.  This is a very easy process; you just have to test the polarity on the LED strips first or they will not light-up.  The resulting light I get is brighter, very white, conserve powers by more than 66%, and last 10 times longer than the old tubs.  Furthermore, I then ventured out to replace the bayonet lights in the three outside lights.  WOW was I surprised how much more light the LEDs will provide, and use less than 1/3 the energy.  All I used was the 2-4 LED strips/light, solder, soldering gun, electrical tape, wire ties, rubber cement, drill, square bit, and drill bit.  The process takes about an hour per light. I left some fixtures with the old tubes as they are not used that often, and as a basis of comparison.  I am very happy with the results.

Some manufacturers are starting to distribute aftermarket LED for RVs.  The styles are limited by they are out there.   If you want more information you are welcome to email me at r_a...@comcast.net.  I can lead you to sources for the LED strips.  I may still have a couple dozen left over.

Rich, what light fixtures are you referring to?  The ceiling halogens, or bath fixtures...perhaps the fluorescents?  Outside lights?  I assume you are referring to the 3 security lights?  I think all of us would consider these conversions, but its simply a matter of economics.  What are your sources for these led's?

Just a note: I found LED lights at www.ledtrailerlights.com , check down on the left side of the page to RV Lights and click on it. It may or may not be what you are looking for. I was pleased with my tail light replacement bulb and price. They also have replacement for interior lights at the time I purchased mine, 3 yrs ago.
Hope this is helpful.
Hope you have a blessed day/week

Does anyone know if LED lights will work with a rheostat?

My puck lights are on a rheostat and we use that feature quite often.

Brian,

If you go to this website I think you will find that they sell all the parts you might need to make them work.

Brian, I don't see why they wouldn't work on a rheostat.  My ceiling halogens dim, using the Multiplex lighting system.  Also, I have LED rope lights on my lot and I dim them with rheostats.  You do have to get the polarity right, of course.

My puck halogen lights dim with the rheostat but the rope lights are either on or off.

Put a rheostat on those ropes and you'll see 'em dim also. Mine
do.....

We have a 2006 45DL14 Select and want to clean the front window curtains.  Anybody had any experience with this - who does it or how did you do it?

We tried to check around and see if anyone would take on the job of
dry cleaning them. No one wanted to do it. So we took them down and
took each section and placed them in one of our large storage
containers with tepid water, laundry soap and bleach. We let them soak
for about two hours swishing them around every now and then. We dumped
the dirty water out, filled the container back with clean rinsing
water swishing them around again only rinsing them one time. They came
out very nice with no shrinkage and we thought the results were worth
the effort. We placed each pleated section on a clean towel on a clean
pick-nic table pulling the pleated sections apart a little bit in
order to let them dry better. Now we did this in the heat of the
summer time so it did not take too terribly long for them to dry
enough that we could rehang them back in place and let them fully
dry.
This was really not hard to do and they looked clean and nice when we
got done, good luck to you,

Then you don't have the Multiplex lighting system? The ropes will still dim if you add a dimmer...

Hi Slabman.

Sorry for the delay, I had intestinal surgery on the 13th. I recently got out of the hospital. Regarding the LED lights I have a 2002 TS.  They used the fluorescent tubes fixtures in the ceiling.  The 9" LEDs were the most versatile for what I did. That is for the outside lights and fluorescent lights. I still have about 200 of them I can sell the for 5.00 each. I will pay the postage for over 100. If you want more information I am at 916-682-7421.   I can get the source I got them from in a couple of weeks when I return to work.

Hi all, I have already upgraded my entire coach to LED's. WoW what a
difference, used warm white and are still brighter than the halogens
and flo's. 72 Halogens replaced with G4-12-5050 SMD (non polarized),
flo's replaced with 2 double row strips, bay lighting replaced with
102-SMD-3528 1156, map/reading lights replaced with MR16 60 SMD 3528,
wedge base wall lights replaced with 30-3528 LED's, and 1076 polarized
base bulbs in vanity lights replaced with 30-3528 LED's. The magnums
don't even registar a charge with most on. Before, charging 30 amps
with just a few of the halogens on. Little load through the battery
banks means more life for the batteries.
If you have not done the conversion, you won't be dissapointed. Did
most of mine through using a direct source in China and at fraction of
what bulbs are selling for here...roughly 10% of what most are selling
for here. Spent less than $400 and should not have to replace any in
my time.

I've been wanting to do the same, but have held off because of
lamp prices at places like Camping World. Would you be willing
to share the company contact information? Thanks, Charlie K

Yes, Camping World and others are very expensive and many only have
9x5050 SMD's instead of 12. The 5050 LEDs are larger than the 3528s
and brighter. Most of the automotive base (1156, etc.) use the 3528s.
Go to DHgate.com, I used AprilTang vendor (very nice people there)
and a couple of others. Do a search there for LED G4. Takes about 3
wks, but you won't believe the price. Payment handled via PayPal or
CC. Be sure to get non-polarized for the G4 halogen replacements
also, side pin as the puck fixtures are not installed with polarity.

Here is a picture of the LEDs I used to replace the old lights in my coach.   You do have to gut the old lights and glue the LEDS in place of the old bulb or tubes and ballast.  I did my entire coach for well less than $150 and about 30 minutes per light.  (the cost of 3 new light fixtures)  I still have plenty left at $5.00 each ( I over bought)   you can call me at 916-682-7421 for more inofmration
