When we visited Santiago (1999), my wife was interested in
"puntillas" which in the colonies we would call "tatting." Found

It was on one of the major streets from the train station to the
cathedral, pretty close to the cathedral.
The other thing we accidentally did was to hang around the back of
the cathedral until a bus load of pilgrims arrived, then follow
with them on their tour of the back of the altar where we kissed
the head of St. James.�� I think they showed up just before Noon
so they could do this and then attend the Pilgrim's Mass at Noon.�
Went to the Pilgrim's Mass twice. First day was cool with the
censor swinging back and forth.� On the second day the priest was
grumpy about all the tourists who only came for the swinging
censor and were wandering about during the mass, so he refused to
swing it.�
If I were going back again I would try harder to see if one of the
many Galician folk groups: Berroguetto, Luar na Lubre, Susana
Sevane, etc., were playing while I was there.
