Sounds good to read the news, but realistically it has a question, "Is it necessary here?" Even FIT or Packaged Tourist, will they bother to use internet there? I dint think so. So, what will happen? load of local will be hanging at the sites and later on, it will fade slowly. It would have been very nice if they donate more toilet facilities or any other necessary. (of course, you are not allow to ask what to donate, is that right?)

I agree. What is the reason for having wi-fi at Shwedagon? This is considered the most sacred spot in Myanmar. There is no reason for anyone to be using laptop computers and iPads at Shwedagon. If a lot of people walked around the pagoda complex looking at some electronic screen (and not the beauty of the pagoda) it would make the place look like a coffee shop. I hope they do NOT have wi-fi there! They must "draw the line" at doing stupid things like that.

I agree. What is the reason for having wi-fi at Shwedagon? This is considered the most sacred spot in Myanmar. There is no reason for anyone to be using laptop computers and iPads at Shwedagon. 1: it is good for the people and students who want to study using internet.
2: It is good to attract young people to come to pagoda n better to spend time at pagoda rather than at a cafe.
3: having an easy internet access is always good for any reason because this is the situation that the whole world wanted to be.

i am sure that there will be some negative impact but generally I welcome this dination.
