Burmese and Irish music come together on the same stage for the first time

Whether You call it a Music Concert or Get-Together Event, there will be a first-time-in-history event on 13th June, this month at Chatrium hotel, Yangon. This event called Irish Myanmar Cultural Exchange Music Concert will be led by Mick Moloney, the Professor: Music and Irish Studies. He is a musician, songwriter, folklorist, arts presenter as well as an important figure on the Dublin folk-song revival in the 1960s. Mick has been to Myanmar for the first time in 2002 traveling through all classic destinations, Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay and Inle lake. In his first visit, he met Myanmar famous musician U Ko Ko (Gita Lulin). During his first trip in Myanmar, he recognized "Burmese music" as amazing. Perhaps this becomes his dream to combine "Irish and Burmese music" and present it to public one day. Thanks to political reforms, this finally becomes practical. He will bring 5 other Irish musicians and they will arrive by the 12th this month.

We want many people as possible to this event. The price is right for all these things. Because it's free. And Arts do no harms. Said he.

This 2 hours concert will start at 7 PM, Friday evening in Chatrium's ball room. Those who come earlier (before 7 pm), there will be a reception by Irish Ambassador as well. It seems the night will go on. As the Irish poet Joe Woods who is an Editor at Myanmar Insider added, after the concert they will move out to 50th St Bar & Grill.
