It may seem like the archetypal concrete jungle, but Bangkok has some beautiful parks where you can escape the madness of the city's never-ending traffic
Donald at the Dasa Book Cafe has written a good roundup of the various parks you can find in Bangkok which let you enjoy some greenery amongst the city's frenetic pace. My personal favourite is Benjasiri Park, which is near to where I live and is immaculately kept by a team of sweepers and cleaners. It's right by The Emporium department store and Phrom Phong BTS station. The park is also near the Dasa Book Cafe inself, a short stroll up Sukhumvit - there you'll find an excellent and cheap collection of second hand books, along with coffee and suitably sinful cakes. Definitely worth a visit for stocking up on reading material for sitting on the beach - or, indeed, in the park.
