The Da Vinci Code has opened in Thailand, having narrowly survived being heavily censored. It's produced some amusing adverts in the local press as a result

Advert spotted in the
Bangkok Post newspaper for the opening of The Da Vinci Code, complete with hilarious flag that the film is the full, uncensored version. Thailand was the only country in the world that seemed set to censor The Da Vinci Code. Due to lobbying by religious groups, the last 10 minutes were going to be taken off the movie, which presumably would have rendered it unwatchable. The film's distributors appealed the decision, and 24 hours later the same censorship board did a complete about-face and decided not to censor the movie after all! The whole farcical situation is summarised by
Asia Media Daily.
