On the tip of the Indian Peninsula Rameshwaram is a globally renowned destination. It is a famous pilgrimage as well as a beautiful holiday destination. The island of Rameshwaram is in the shape of a conch, spread over an area of 61.8 sq.km. This holy place is considered as the Varanasi of South.

It is believed that a pilgrimage to Kashi remains incomplete with out a tour to Rameshwaram. It is the place where Lord Rama worshiped Lord Shiva (the ultimate power) to wash away his sin. And from here Rama made the bridge to rescue Sita from the cage of Ravana. The presiding deity of the temple is Linga Of Sri Ranganatha, which most importantly is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India.

Attractions of the place:

Devotees take bath on them and these have medicinal value. The idols in the temple are beautifully decorated. In short the temple of Ramanathaswamy is a must visit place in India.

Gandhamadana Parvatam:
It is the highest point of the temple and provides a panoramic view of whole city. It is believed that the foot print of Lord Rama is worshiped here.
