Air Conditioner Key SwitchI do not like Hotels that force me to put a key tag into the socket that turns on the room electricity. I feel this is the sign of a cheap and low quality hotel. I do see value in conserving energy especially when the hotel is inexpensive, but for an expensive hotel...?
I found this great system in a Hotel in Manila for shutting off only the Air Conditioner only, and not the whole room.

Innovative ideas, simple, cheap and easy to do ideas are always the best. When I see intelligence by design I am happy, nice to know somebody is thinking!
. Makes me feel good to know the Hotel is creative and innovative.

This is just an ordinary male plug, and the management of the hotel has looped a piece of wire to make a circuit.

When you plug this into the female electrical recepticle it creates a circuit and give power to the AC.

Also found another use for my bucket as the air conditioner was dripping water down onto the desk. Before I was under the impression that it was best to keep the room continually air conditioned. I have now learned that most Hotel Air Conditioners are so badly maintained, a person must shut off when the leave the room, this allow the AC to de-ice and dry off. I !
also am debating about where the water should drain outside the room o
r if it is ok to drain inside, does the AC need to be on an exterior wall to work the best.
The more I learn about these systems the better I become at choosing the best room in the hotel.
