You need an Windows 7 installation ISO. There are many different ones that work but a good working image for English users is named en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso and has the SHA1 hash of 36ae90defbad9d9539e649b193ae573b77a71c83.

Using Azure migrate server migration tool, you cannot migrate your Linux VM from Windows 10 Hyper-V to Azure. Because the host operating system should be "Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, or Windows Server 2012 R2 with latest updates." See the documentation here - -us/azure/migrate/tutorial-discover-hyper-v#prepare-hyper-v-hosts

I now think its not possible to install windows 7 with Ryzen 5000 series processor and b550 motherboard. Reading this forum and other forums i think its only possible to use b550 with windows 7 if you have zen2 3000 series processors and the bios is not patched to 1.0.8.0 or over (the patch that starts supporting zen3).

The system will bsod after install. Very similar experiences with other people after trying everything. Only success stories i have read with zen3 are from x570 motherboards. MSI creator and MSI mpg procarbon have been mentioned. (If reader is interested they say asrock x570 are also troublesome because of acpi, also apu processors are very hard)

Today a great success with clean install. I will write more later.

I want to download the official windows 7 iso for some testing in a temporary install on my main hardware. After the eol of windows 7, tools like heidoc's windows iso download tool and rufus did work for a decent period of time. They were a genuine source of the official iso. But now they both don't seem to work anymore. Rufus removed the windows 7 download button and heidoc iso tool's download link results in 404. There are iso's on archiveorg but i cant find any that are trustworthy.

If you are a pirate or just someone with a windows license key or needing isos for Virtual Machines, it becomes frustrating if you lose your iso. Now Microsoft does not let you download the iso, and most PCs have the key in their bios. I have a solution. These are all the original isos for windows (EN) every version and every subversion. I will not be giving out product keys but these are the original isos from Microsoft, I will link you to the Microsoft iso hashes so you can verify if you do not trust me. I am happy to help you all and anyone who ever needs windows isos. I took a lot of time on this so I hope you found this helpful. It was so hard to find ones with the original hash so I hope you like it.

Can anyone confirm/deny the validity of these methods or make suggestions on how to better accomplish activation after a reinstall? I am mainly concerned with XP since the information I have found is rather scattered and I am not sure if its possible to activate a "royalty free OEM" using a generic OEM/retail disk install and Windows Key Update Tool or if I would need to use one of the old methods of backing up the files and altering the install disk.

If there are any known issues with activation on any version using the windows images/techniques I listed can someone please elaborate on them. I am asking because I started a new job that requires re-installing every version of windows on various computers that have OEM and retail versions.

After a fresh install, the system does not auto activate and when one tries to enter the correct OEM Product Key (extracted from BIOS), it is refused. The trick is to first remove the current Product Key with slmgr /upk, then the OEM key can be entered and activation works flawlessly. This idea comes from Clean install Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 from OEM key, which also describes how to get the OEM key using RW Everything (including video tutorial!). Really this has saved me several hours, maybe days of experimenting. If you find it helpful, please upvote that answer instead of this one.

If you have a computer that has an Windows 7 OEM license embedded in the BIOS SLIC area, and then reinstall a generic image, it will claim to be not genuine. To verify, run this command from a cmd prompt with administrator privs:

An original Windows 7 with SP1 integrated ISO of the same edition, same version and same language from MSDN or TechNet is required in order for the conversion to work. For example, convert 32-bit Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate English into 32-bit Windows 7 SP1-U Ultimate English with the corresponding delta, while 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise English can be patched to 64-bit Windows 7 SP1-U Enterprise English.

Several ISO images of Windows 7 with SP1-U integrated which are of May 2011 Media Refresh version have been published on BitTorent sites, which should match the following checksums of official and original (untoched and unedited) Windows 7 SP1-U ISO images from MSDN/TechNet.

As usual, remove the ei.cfg file with ei.cfg Removal Utility to unlock selection of all available Windows 7 editions during setup. In you want Windows 7 SP1-U ISO image of specific edition, use Windows 7 ISO Image Edition Switcher, where there are already updated binary patches for Windows 7 SP1-U ISO.

I am on my last legs here. I am aware that there are many questions similar to mine in these forums, but my google page is filled with purple links and none of the fixes have worked for me. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I do have a valid product key, but mine doesn't work with the link, as the key came with a product which had windows 7 already installed (the key wasn't used though), so I can't use the download link. Instead, I have used popular sources, such as two different MSDN archive sites, (forgot the names), and one torrent, which worked for my brother (non mac).

Okay, to verify it wasn't the fault of the ISO, I just bought a windows DVD official install disc. Now I am having a problem that I had earlier, where the Superdrive makes noises for a bit, then automatically ejects it. I fixed this previously by just burning a new install disc, but since this is my only official install disc, i have no idea what to do. I have tried inserting it after holding option on boot. I have tried refit. I have tried cleaning it by shorting compressed air into the drive. Is there any known fix to this? There are many forums on this exact problem, with not a single fix. Could you suggest anything?

Back in February, 2010, I posted instructions on how to create a bootable USB drive that can install any version of Windows 7. As of yesterday, ISOs of updated versions of Windows 7 with SP1 have been made available to Microsoft TechNet and MSDN subscribers.

Nevermind, I think its bad driver files. I removed a folder and it got past that step. But now for some reason its refering to wim file thats not even associated with this install.going to start it over. I guess I need a way for it to not even look for a wim file.

It could also be something completely else being fishy, because very often setup would show me the language and keyboard settings screen (it's not supposed to with automated installation) and freeze up at the very moment, and I have to reset the whole thing. Other times (much less often) I'd get weird error messages about no driver for the drive/controller/whatever I am installing from, and browse for files... option. There's definitely nothing wrong with my either PC or the flash drive I have. It also sometimes happened when I was still installing from a DVD. It's really annoying and I could never figure out the cause.

Using the proper OS Type pre-sets some defaults commonly used for that particular OS. We will come back to these settings later, but for now we will continue with the configuration by creating a virtual drive for our guest system:

This will create the network device VBox0 owned by the user/group vbox and set the ip address to 192.168.50.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. All you have to do is simply configure your firewall for the new adapter and set the virtual machine to use an ip in that logical range. Now all we have to do is tell the virtual machine what the name of the adapter is we just created:
