Can anyone tell me – or share a link- on what were the percentages for GRT pupils at KS2 this year – in Reading, writing and Maths and also at GCSE level in 5 GCSEs including English, Maths and Science?

Dear Margaret,

I wondered whether you might be able to share the below information about roles that we are currently advertising on the google traveller-ed mailing group as I believe that many of those who receive it may have the sort of skills that we are looking for. Do let me know if you require further information.

Widening Participation roles at Sheffield Hallam University

The Widening Participation and Outreach team at Sheffield Hallam University are advertising 3 new roles that will support the HEFCE funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme in South Yorkshire. The team works to support the progression of under-represented groups in Higher Education though delivering innovative support and outreach activities in schools, colleges and community settings. Building on strong existing partnership working, these roles will offer the opportunity to develop and contribute to a large scale programme of activity as part of a creative and committed team. These roles are fixed term until December 2018 and close on 9th January.

Widening Participation and Outreach Administrator (£18,412 to £21,220)

Widening Participation and Outreach Co-ordinator (£21,843 to £25,298)

Senior Widening Participation and Outreach Officer (£26,052 to £32,004)

Please contact Ruth Squire, Head of Widening Participation and Outreach, on r.sq...@shu.ac.uk or 0114 225 6474 if you would like to discuss these roles further.

Further roles to deliver the NCOP programme in South Yorkshire will be advertised shortly.

Many Thanks,

Hello Yvonne

It is normally on the DfE website round about now and entitled “Statistical First Release”. You can then look at “pupil characteristics”. KS1 for 2016 seems to be available but I have not managed to find KS2 or GCSE so far.

Best wishes, Margaret

Happy New Year everyone. What delights lie in store!
KS2 data is at:
Gypsies, Roma and Travellers are in tables N8,N9,N10.
As far as I can see there is no breakdown by pupil characteristics of GCSE results; 2015 data appeared in January 2016, so we can expect it soon.
Lisa Smith and I are planning an article, reviewing what has happened to the education of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers over the past 5 years, so I will have a look at all the available data and share my findings in the next few weeks.
Best wishes,
Brian

Dear Antoinette,
I am speaking at the NATT+ conference on March 10th and have set that as a target date for assembling the data and the evaluation of developments since 2011 (when Sarah Cemlyn and I contributed a chapter Education, Inclusion and Government policy reviewing progress over the previous 20 years to Joanna Richardson and Andrew Ryder’s book Gypsies and Travellers: Empowerment and Inclusion in British Society). The article may not be complete by then but the key messages will be clear.
Hope that helps,
Brian

Hi Brian,

Will that information, on GRT achievements, that you will present at the NATT conference, be shared on the NATT- site and with TravED group- for those of us who, unfortunately, are not able to attend?
