 Hi can anyone help please?
I have been asked about dual registration and whether it still happens, how it is formalised, and what happens during exams.
Thanks, on behalf of some anxious families.

Hi Sallu,
I don’t think anything has changed except that now the DfE is completely silent. Dual registration requires the agreement of the two head teachers, and I guess they would need to work out what happen’s with exams. I think they can sit exams at a different location from the one where they are registered providing they can reassure the examining board that appropriate conditions will apply.
When the DfE considered scrapping s444(6), they made the argument that travelling families could use dual registration to maintain educational continuity, so there is a tiny bit of support there.
Baroness Whitaker who chairs the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Education Stakeholder group, has been asking the department when it is going to convene the next meeting, but has received no reply; that’s the contempt with which they hold this area of work!
Best,
Brian

Hi Sally, we still run dual registration at schools in West Berkshire area. The Head teacher at the base school wherever they are placed in the UK have to agree on the suggested dual registration as does the second school. I am not sure exams but would suggest that the common sense approach is probably to sit any exam at the base school if possible. This would mean that the family have to engage in the full process, I hope this helps

Kind regards
