Planning is underway for the program of the next Gordon Research Conference (and associated Gordon Research Seminar) on Environmental Sciences: Water. For background on these, please see the following: http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2012&program=enviwater http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2012&program=grs_enviwa https://www.facebook.com/groups/21613451038/ This year, the unifying theme will be the scientific "grand challenges" that form the foundations and, at the same time, the frontiers of aquatic environmental science. These grand challenges will be relatively broadly defined: e.g., biotransformation and biocatalysis, natural organic matter; colloids and particles; partitioning and sorption; reactive transport; mineral surface chemistry; membranes, films, and coatings; exposure, risk, and toxicity; etc. This is the best time to make suggestions regarding grand challenge themes and speakers to go with them. We welcome your input. It's probably best to post any discussion about theme at the FaceBook site, and email any specific suggestions regarding speakers to me.
