Driver updates for Windows, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:

HI today I went into intel driver & Support Assisant I waited for it to scan my dell laptop. Today it came up with a Graphics driver for my laptop. So I let it download first and then I pushed on the installation wizard. Then after the terms screen I pushed next. The next screen showed what the intel graphics intaller was going to install. It said it was going to install the graphics driver, intel command center. What I want to now is whether I should check the box to excute a clean install. Is it safe to do this I do not want to mess up my dell laptop.

In your case, my advise is not to check the "clean install" box. By doing this your currently installed driver will be uninstalled and you will loose the ability to roll back driver in case that the new one will not function correctly. You should be aware (this is also explained in the Detailed Description on the Driver Download page) , that this is Intel Generic Driver and you may loose all customization prepared by the OEM for your laptop. Therefore, it is advised to use graphics drivers from the OEM site.

In Windows Update, you usually see a date next to each entry. If your graphics driver is older than three or four months, try using Windows Device Manager to upgrade to the latest driver.

You can explore the new graphics control panel to learn about new features or adjust settings. To do so, right-click the Windows desktop and find Intel HD Graphic Options, NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Radeon Settings, or the name of the driver to discover its new options.

You got it! If you like, explore the new options the manufacturer provides in the graphics control panel. To get to it, right-click on the desktop, then find Intel HD Graphic Options, NVIDIA Control Panel, or AMD Radeon Settings.

Look for graphics card drivers that mention manufacturer names related to graphics components, such as Intel Graphics, NVIDIA, or AMD Graphics. You may see these in the main view or under the Optional Updates category. If you see one of these graphics card drivers, click on the Install button and wait for the installation to complete.

Keeping your drivers updated boosts performance by speeding up your PC and optimizing your system for gaming and other higher intensity tasks. By the same token, failing to update graphics drivers can result in sluggish and glitchy performance. Outdated drivers are also a security risk, because they leave your computer vulnerable to hackers.

Yes I am caught in a dilemma because I am unshure to who I should point. I have intel iris xe integrated graphics, but my laptops manufacturer is HP. To who must I go to install the latest graphics driver?

But thats just it, they are unbelievably disorganized, one " expert" gave me a link to install nvidea graphics drivers... and when I go online saying latest HP graphics drivers it takes me to this link where it repeatedly tells me to install audio drivers, network drivers, I did this once, yet the site still tells me " drivers available for your device". This is after installing everything that they recommended to me. Im not even sure there were any graphics drivers listed as I saw nothing of the sort named that way

Ok I had enough, should I just install this driver version from intel instead. Hp doesnt care about their customers, I am repeatedly sent to a link where there are multiple driver updates available, but none of them graphics drivers.

We recommend checking with your System Manufacturer and use the driver software provided by them to avoid potential installation incompatibilities. Intel supplies generic versions of Graphics Drivers for general purposes. Computer manufacturers might have changed the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to the graphics driver software or software packaging.

I'd go ahead and try and install it. All the major laptops Mfgs. release drivers with the products they sell and have them on the website support area, the problem is they don't update these drivers after that, they do update bios for a while then stop.

Hp has there own drivers in their HP executables and they dont update drivers after the release. HP is notorious for whitelisting hardware, which means it has to be theirs or items they have configured in the bios which is in their support manual, which is not the case here.

When you install the Intel graphics driver and if it wont install, google replacing oem drivers with generic drivers, there are a few videos that show this and it works, I have watched these and they are informative.

I agree, but I am caught in the middle here, they have this website of theirs where they have your system scanned to see its hardware and device name and version. The issue is this then after takes you to their driver updates available, good, here is where it is just plain dumb, they instead of issuing you driver's by category, force down your throat other drivers you have already installed. Drivers like Bluetooth and network drivers, audio drivers etc. Worse still, the bloody site thinks you are out of date over and over again, hence why when after your system is scanned it will literally reshow you the whole list of drivers you need...again.

This is extremely confusing to your average Joe, what we're they thinking.

I will definitely take my chances with intels drivers, because HP is seriously disorganized

Intel recommends that you stick with the drivers from the manufacturer, especially for graphics, because the manufacturer often customizes these packages for special features of their laptops. Overwriting with the Intel generic driver packages will wipe out these customizations, resulting in features that do not work and/or overall laptop instability. You should only use the generic driver package from Intel if the manufacturer tells you that there are no customizations included in their packages.

Intel supplies generic versions of Graphics Drivers for general purposes. You can try these drivers, however, we cannot guarantee that will be compatible with your system since you have an OEM system that is customized.

Also, as previously mentioned, the Intel DSA was designed for products manufactured by Intel, we recommend using the Driver assistant from your OEM or downloading the drivers from the Download Center if you are looking for a specific driver to avoid confusion.

So I went ahead and downloaded, installed the drivers listed on hp's website, all 16 of them. What I don't understand is when I check the intel arc control panel it says driver version 31.0.101.4369, this is the latest version for my graphics card type. The confusement is that I would presume HP has older dated driver versions available for installation, or am I over thinking this?

Provided the motherboard/system/laptop vendor has authorized it, Windows Update could step in and overinstall a newer version. This should be (if they didn't screw up) an indicator that the drivers they provided do not contains any customizations.

Computers have the amazing ability to take seemingly endless strings of binary code and convert them into brilliantly rendered graphics. But how exactly do they make this magic happen? The process involves both graphics hardware and graphics software. The hardware is known as a computer graphics card (also called a video card, graphics device, display adapter, graphics processing unit, or GPU), and the software is called a graphics driver. Both are essential to making the images on your screen come to life.

This problem is not fixable by software rollback. If your graphics card or drivers do not provide gamma ramp access, you are unable to use calibration. Typically this is a problem with broken or incomplete graphics card driver install.

Whenever I launch SP I get a warning window pop up saying my Graphics Card Drivers are out of date. At first I thought maybe it's because I had an old GPU (GTX 980ti), but it still does it on my new build, which has an RTX 3080ti. This PC is a completely new build, new install of Windows etc. The driver is up to date and all Nvidia drivers (both Game and Studio are up to date). I'm assuming its a bug, as it states the driver I have installed, and also states the newest driver, but the one I have installed IS newer than the one it is stating.

When I installed ubuntu 11.10, 64 bits I didn't have to install any kind of graphics drivers and all 3d efects were working fine. Now, it seems to be that graphics drivers are uninstalled. I can't use unity 3d or any compiz effects.

However, after updated my graphics drivers and trying again, now anytime I try to open ANY rhino not just import this cad file, my pc completely freezes and the only way out is a hard restart. I was able to borrow a second graphics card and after putting it in and testing it, rhino is running fine on the new graphics card.

AVG Driver Updater will perform a complete system scan and alert you if it finds any outdated drivers. After the scan is complete, click Update Selected to update all your old drivers at once.

On Windows PCs, there are two ways to update your drivers on your own. The first is to use the built-in Windows Update service, which handles updates for your OS and various Microsoft programs, along with driver updates for a range of popular hardware. You can also take a more surgical approach through the Device Manager utility and update your drivers one by one.

Older drivers can struggle with newer software, especially modern video games and complex editing software like Photoshop or video production apps. If your computer is having a hard time keeping up, the fix may be as simple as updating your graphics driver.
