Since Asake posted the snippet of \u201CTerminator\u201D, it has gone viral on Tiktok, it has been illegally uploaded on Apple Music and YouTube. The song was finally released this midnight together with the music video and that\u2019s what everybody is currently talking about on Twitter. It\u2019s safe to say that Asake has hacked the game, which is why his run is now being compared to Naira Marley\u2019s run in 2019.

Asake\u2019s run is untouchable. As an artist, he is gifted. His approach, delivery, choral hooks, arrangement, and musical composition are out of this world. Shortly put, he is a gem and the industry is lucky to have a talent like that. His success can almost not be compared to any other. It\u2019s not up to a year that he blew up and his name is already coming up in such conversations.

On the other hand, Naira Marley\u2019s impact was beyond the music. The social commentary that underpinned his music in 2019 had a hold of both young and old. The Marlian movement/cult following that was formed as a result of the success of his music has continued to wax strong. Asake studied Theatre and Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He began releasing music in 2017, and his career took off in 2022 with the single "Mr. Money",[16] followed by a remix with Zlatan and Peruzzi. In February 2022, fellow Nigerian artist Olamide signed Asake to his YBNL Records imprint.[17] That same month, he released his debut extended play, Ololade, which featured his breakthrough song "Omo Ope", featuring Olamide, and the single "Sungba". In July 2022, Asake signed a distribution deal with Empire.[18][19]

His second studio album Work of Art was announced shortly after the release of "Amapiano".[30] In April 2023, Asake appeared on Good Morning America to discuss his music.[31] Asake released his second studio album, Work of Art, on June 16, 2023.[32] The album debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 with 13,000 units sold during its debut week.[11] The album also reached number 20 on the "UK Albums Chart" and number 59 on the "Irish Recorded Music Associate". The album was reported by Nigeria's Turntable charts as the most streamed Nigerian album of 2023 so far. [33]

Asake often uses uptempo Afro and Amapiano-styled production.[34] Some listeners have also described his style as similar to fuji because of his singing in Yoruba and use of slang in his songs.[35] Asake is noted for the use of backing vocals in his music.[36]

Gongo Aso is one of the best examples of artist-producer chemistry, along with other classics like 'Mushin 2' Mo' Hits\u2019 (Wande Coal/Don Jazzy) and 'Superstar' (Wizkid/Samklef).
