Dear Alt Transportation Supporter, New York shouldn't be one of the most dangerous states to ride a bicycle. It's time for us to join more than 25 other states that have a safe passing law of 3 feet or greater.
We’re doing everything we can to get the 3 foot amendment on the Assembly Transportation Committee agenda. The amendment must be on the agenda so that it can be voted on and moved to the entire Assembly for passage.
Unfortunately, even with thousands of emails, phone calls, and in-person visits, we’re still not there yet. As a state and as individuals,
we can't afford to wait another year. Now is the time to act.
Right now, we need you to call and:
- Urge your assembly member to support bill A9198a (aka the 3 foot amendment) which will help make New York a safer state to ride a bike.
- Ask your assembly member to request the Chair of the Transportation Committee, David Gantt, put the bill on the agenda of the next committee meeting and vote it to the floor.
- Ask your assembly member to sign on to this memo as a co-sponsor.
You can quickly and easily find your assembly member’s contact information
by visiting this link.
As we continue to dig deep and press on, we can’t let up – we must finish strong and win – for everyone who's been killed and injured.
Thank you for your continued support – we can’t make the 3 foot amendment a law without your help!
