Next regularly scheduled meeting on 11/11 at TAP at 6 PM
PreRamble Recap:
People liked the PreRamble, but we need to start planning early, like at our November meeting.
Thank Yous have gone out to sponsors.
People loved the event but felt it was under attended. More notice is needed, earlier graphics, fundraising, advance promo. Splinter events will be staged through the summer to build the momentum: for instance, the bike rodeo.
We liked the idea of working with partners and moving people around Troy, but we want to try different themes from year to year to keep it fresh and interesting. People generally like the way the festival came together, but felt organization could be better if it was planned much further out. We agreed to think about the three big issues for next month, so we can have a good discussion and hit the ground running.
Big Three Decisions:
- Date
- Theme
- Assigned roles for Event Captains
Coming up with a new name is a minor chore. Transport Troy and Collar City Ramble have been suggested.
Creative Crosswalks:
Eight were painted out of twenty scheduled. Delays happened because the city's paving schedule threw us off. We have planning notes to help us handle the painting events next year. They should get posted online, along with a map of areas to be painted. The whole thing can get a lot more participatory.
Bike Racks:
We will do another round of solicitations of businesses. While we will try to get some in this year, it's a stretch as our volunteer solicitors have more than full-time jobs. Can anyone else help solicit? It's a fun and easy job, and training is available.
Revising the Transportation Report:
Kaleel Jamison Consulting generously offered to help us print more copies of the report, so we can pass them out to other parties, helping them set up alternate transportation programs. Reading over it, the typos and awkward grammatical constructions are just slightly embarrassing. Barb is searching for the original file, unfortunately written in an awkward Microsoft program, to see if it can be exported in a better format.
