This should work similar to the other google group. You still have
access to the main google group if you want to post comments in other's
committees. Hope this is helpful.

Hey transportation crew. Happy Easter! Christ is indeed risen from the
dead! I've been fielding alot of questions via email (refered by the
website) about transportation. I'm letting people know that shortly
after they register that more details about transportation will be
emailed to them. Do we have this information compiled yet?- closest bus
station, airport, train station etc. With contact info for you all
plastered all over it so people email their information to you when
they book their flights, etc. Is there a phone number people should call
if their flight is delayed. It'd be helpful to get that to people from
the beginning in case they never again check the website after the
register. Just a shout out. Ideally we would have for people the whole
welcome packet ready, but it seems like the most urgent info is
regarding transportation. Thanks for all your work.
Shalom,
Melissa

Melissa, I totally agree. I am planning on having all
the info for the website by this evening. it is quite
urgent that we get it all up. the registration form
isn't up yet, so the transport stuff will appear at
the same time the RSVP does. I wasn't sure who's phone
# to put out there. Someone told me yours (Melissa)
was the main number, but that seems like a lot to put
on you. I will try to have a number locked in that
isn't yours for the actual festival for people to call
ready for the reg packet when it gets sent. I also
have a new email that I am going to use to field
questions if that would make things easier for you.
That way people are getting all the same transport
info.

Sorry if you've been taking a lot on. You can send
all transport questions to papatr...@gmail.com.
Canielle and I will be meeting this week, hopefully,
and can give you an update.

Love~

Sure the info would be great to have ASAP. I think we
should let people research the rental car thing on
their own since we don't really want more cars there.
We should contact the rental companies to see if any
of them rent 15 passenger vans for ourselves though.

I'm gonna post as much as I can tonight. You should
check it on the website. I can make any changes that

Lord be with you-Michelle, *hugz* Yeah, you probably thought I made a mistake, saynig that there is no train option. Ha! But the does relieve us from one extra pick-up point. Woohoo!! Now, to focus on the others places.
Meeting on Thurs. would be good for me. I'll be going out of town yet again (but this time not too far). Therefore, I won't be at the PAPA committee meeting.
Anyway, on Thurs. I'm available after 5:30pm. Where would you like to meet?... at a park, coffee shop or something? please, give me an idea of what's good for you?okay?

peace.

hey friends, so i've talked with the current director of the Sider Institute
here at messiah, Eric Seibert, and he is willing to support us. he did ask
some clarifying questions though:
-is a 15 passenger van an essential piece for traveling and carting things
down to Tennessee from PA or is mostly a matter of using the space for the
transportation of things and people down in TN?(if the latter is the case he
recommended just renting a van down there, which would be more cost
effective, and he would be willing to help with that cost)
-if space is necessary for the PA to TN trip then would an 8 passenger van
work just as well or do we really need and want to go with the 15 passenger
space (messiah's fleet of van has 7 person, an 8 person, and 15 person vans)

basically, he is just trying to make the most economically responsible
decision, both for his and our sake, but the process is in motion if you
guys agree that an 8 or 15 person is still a needed option from up here in
PA. personally, it sounds like we should go with the 15 just because of all
the things that need to get down there. as i said earlier, kim phipps
messiah's president wants to donate other things for us to use as well.

peace - joshua

Hey~
I actually didn't think you made a mistake. I looked
up the Amtrak stuff on my own last week out of
curiosity and thought maybe I was blanking on the name
of another train company. I wasn't second-guessing
you! =)

I am available to meet anywhere after Michael gets
home from work at 6:10pm or so. I have a car, and am
open to coming wherever. I know you live in South
Philly, and I can come there although it would push
our meeting time back a little more. (Not too much,
depending on traffic.) Parking in South Philly is a
little easier than downtown, but I'm willing to go
there too. The only place I know in South besides
anything on South St is Sabrina's on 13th or 11th or
something. I'm assuming you are more familiar with
that area, so why don't you pick somewhere that works
for you and I will get there? I'm not too strapped for
cash so if you want to eat, that's fine. If coffee is
more your stride, that's fine too. And if we want to
do a park, I'm also great with that option. (Coffee to
go?) Let me know and pick a time that works around my
departure time of 6:15 - 6:20pm. Sound OK?

You should check out the website before the meeting
since we won't necessarily have online access while we
meet and let me know how you feel about it then.

My printer is also on the fritz, so do you want to
print out our TODO timeline or should I just write it
down? (That's no prob.)

Talk to you soon!

Hey Michelle, *hugz* sorry, I’m getting back to you so late. Since the Holiday weekend,  work has been backed-up. Blah!
Yeah, anytime you can make it over this way is good. Once you are able to get the car, you can give me a call when you’re about to leave so then I can just gauge what time you’ll probably arrive.
Well, I have a laptop that I could bring to the meeting if we want to get on the internet, it has wi-fi abilities. But only if there is a nearby signal
Anyway, two of my favorite places come to mind to for a meeting, 1.) Ikea in South Philly on Columbus Blvd/Delaware, ( which I think would be easier for you to get to from the highway but it doesn’t have a wireless signal for my laptop)
2. Last Drop coffee shop at the corner or 13th & Pine (parking on is sometimes hard to find, but there is a decent wireless signal there)
Ikea has a food cafeteria on the second floor and Last Drop coffee shop only serves deserts and whatnot (note: some of their desserts are vegan) Sorry, I don’t have a lot of
Which do you feel more comfortable with? Each place are easy to mapquest directions from where you’re coming from. Ikea address: 2206 S. Columbus Blvd.
Philadelphia, PA 19148 and Last Drop coffee House : 1300 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
Feel free to write out our TDL to have a updated version.
Ttyl!

Hey ladies,
Great work- A few comments/ notes on what I saw:
We're not posting transportation info beyond the ride share and HOV info, as we've talked about before- we're emailing what you're compiling now AFTER people RSVP- that way people have a urgent reason to RSVP.  Everyone who had questions to me via email  has been posted on this process  and are anxiously waiting for the RSVP form to be up. If anything for the website- RSVP form updated is the urgent piece (many committees are stalled until it's up- it's completed, just needs to be added)
Us renting a 15 passanger van is a LAST, LAST, LAST fallback option. We don't want to waste our money on renting something we could possibly borrow from another church or organization. I agree that we need a reliable transportation for families and kids, but many people attending are planning to pick-up people once they arrive on site (most will be coming early). Psalters have some church contacts in Knoxville that we could possible borrow a van from- let's see what other options we can come up with.
Michelle, as you asked in your voicemail- yes the time for arrival/ departure are accurate and on the schedule page- we're asking people not to arrive before 9:30 Friday morning- IE we wont "open the gate" till then. And we're asking people to clear out by 6pm Sunday pm. The Sunday leaving time is a bit more loose, but it gives people quite a few hours to clear out- and gives us an evening to catch our breathe before the clean-up. Is this reasonable timing for the transpo crew? It's a concentrated timing for pick-up and drop-offs. Hiopefully that is helpful and not insane. Let me know what you think.
Yes, please do not put my cell number on transportation things. I'm guessing it will be many other places- I was thinking one of you- or another on the committee- would have a phone available- I'll likely be running around and you'll be the best ones to get the flight/ train/ or bus delays or changes anyyway- it'll ddefintely be more efficient.
The new email addres is a brilliant idea- make sure it gets added to the website.
Danielle, I couldn't open your attachment. Could you send it again within the email or through another program- if that's too much- maybe just bring a copy Saturday.
Nice work everyone one. We'll see you at the gathering on Saturday, This meeting time will be an opportunity to work together within and between committees. More work, less talk. Hope to see you all there.
Shalom,
Melissa

Transportation

The information on this page is extremely crucial, so
please read it fully before you make travel plans.
[GOOD PREFIX]

Where is this thing anyway?
The PAPA Festival site is
outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. Shoot in that
direction and we will fill you in on the rest AFTER YOU FILL OUT THE RSVP FORM.

When To Arrive and Depart
[co-conspirators arrive on Thursday-which isn't advertised on the website so more people don't arrive Thursday- These times are our guideline, but if someone comes early and leaves lates it's not the end of the world- we don't want to be too strict (OR TOO LOOSE) on this- we'll just put them to work]

PLAN TO ARRIVE ON SITE AFTER 9:30am on Friday, June 23. WE'RE ASKING
everyone to be ON THEIR WAY HOME BY
6:00pm on Sunday, June 25. Arriving early and/or
staying late cannot be accommodated. (Sorry.) Please
make travel arrangements accordingly.

How Should I Get There? [good info and research]
You can get there (or close) by car/van, Greyhound,
and airplane. Unfortunately, Amtrack doesn't come
anywhere near Knoxville.

BY CAR...
Driving Info

We have a HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) requirement on
all vehicles because on-site parking is very limited.
Be sure to fill yours up or be on the look-out for
folks needing rides from your region (see RideShare
info below).

RideShare Info {WICKED AMAZING ORGANIZATION- NICE WORK!}
We have set up a Rideshare system for you to take
advantage of in order to meet the HOV requirement.
Please use the links below to set up rides with people
traveling from your area. There is an explanation of
how to use the system in the intro/home section of
each group, and Message #1 is an example of how to
post messages. You do not have to have a Yahoo email
account to view or post messages. If you have
questions about any of this, you may email the manager
of the group by replying to message #1.

**It is very important to note that you are traveling
at your own risk in people's personal vehicles. Please
use wise judgment in making decisions about whom you
travel with. Feel free to ask for references or
inquire about how they are connected to the greater
community if you feel it may be helpful or necessary.
Be polite and courteous to each other. The Rideshare
system has been set up by PAPA committee members, but
they bear no responsibility for any personal losses or
injuries anyone may sustain during their trip to and
from the PAPA Festival. Be safe, OK?** [GOOD SAFETY CLAUSE- MOST PEOPLE PROBABLY UNDERSTAND, BUT IT'S GOOD TO BE CLEAR OF THE RISKS]

Ha. Fooled you. There are no directions until you
RSVP. Once you give us the info we need, we will
follow up with the details you need. Thanks for your
cooperation on this. For liability and sustainability
we are asking folks not to just show up without
registering beforehand, so we will be ready to have
the healthiest village we can create.

BY AIR or BUS...
If you are flying into Knoxville airport, coming by
bus to Knoxville (or by some other way we haven't
thought of)...

The festival is located in a rather remote part of
east TN, more than 30 minutes from the Knoxville
airport, and there is no public transportation that
can get you there. We are trying to set up shuttles
from the airport and bus stations in Knoxville to get
you back and forth to the festival site. These
shuttles will be primarily in private vehicles
(cars/vans/a big ol' bus) and will arrive at the
airport or bus station in intervals throughout the
day. You may have to wait 2-3 hours after you arrive
for a shuttle, so please be prepared for that. We will
do the best we can to reduce your wait time. The
Knoxville airport is pretty small, so have something
to do while you wait. We will tell you where to meet
the shuttles at the airport/station in your
Registration packet EMAILED TO YOU AFTER YOU RSVP.

If you are traveling with a child or children, then
please make sure 1.) we know that, and 2.) you bring
the necessary child seat or vehicle restraint system
for that child. If this is a problem, please contact
us.

We will need your info, including flight or
bus #, time and date of arrival and departure, and
where you are coming into in order to set up a shuttle
for you. You should purchase your ticket before you
register for the festival, and should write this info
on your RSVP form. IF YOU WONT HAVE THIS INFORMATION TILL CLOSE TO THE FESTIVAL, PLEASE RSVP AND THEN EMAIL YOU TRANSPORTATION INFO TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW
[AGAIN, MANY ARE WAITING ON RSVP INFO- WE DON'T WANT ALL THE RSVPS COMING IN THE WEEK BEFORE- FOR ALL OF OUR SANITY]
It is important to realize that it
will not be helpful (or considerate, really) for us if
you do not tell us your arrival/departure info and
assume that you can fit into a shuttle when you
arrive. We will still try to get you to the site, but
that approach will not make our day easier. We also do
not wish to strand anyone in Knoxville while we are
having a blast at the festival. So let us know when
you are coming and leaving!

*If you feel it necessary to rent a vehicle to get
from the airport to the site, we do not need your
info. However, we do not recommend renting a vehicle
due to the lack of parking spaces available on site.

Who should I talk to about all this?

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you
may contact Michelle or Danielle at
papatr...@gmail.com

We will have a phone number that you may call once the
festival gets close in case you have questions,
delays, or you are desperately lost. This number will
be included in your Registration packet.

Happy travels!

LOOKS GREAT- I HOPE THESE ADDITIONS ARE HELPFUL- I SUPPOSE NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT. I'M SO PROUD OF ALL THE WORK YOU GUYS ARE DOING AND THINKING OF SO MANY DETAILS. LET'S FIGURE OUT THE PLAN OF EVENT REGARDING RSVPING AND GETTING INFO- MAYBE IT'S JUST ME BUT IT SOUNDS CONFUSING. WE ALL NEED THEIR INFO, BUT THEY NEED SOME INFO TO GET THERE TOO. I THINK YOU BALANCED IT WELL BY PUTTING THE INFO FOR THE KNOXVILLE AIRPORT AND GREYHOUND ON THE SITE. IT GET'S PEOPLE NEAR... LET'S TALK EITHER AT THE SATURDAY GATHERING OR ONT THE PHONE TO GET THIS CLEAR TO US ALL, SO WHEN PEOPLE ASK- WE'LL BE SAYING THE SAME THING. I HOPE SOME OF THAT MADE SENSE. THE SUN IS FRYING MY BRAIN. I'VE BEEN LOVIN' BEING OUT IN THE GARDEN AND AM HAVING TROUBLE BEING INSIDE INFRONT OF A COMPUTER- I THINK IT'S TIME TO GO OUT. SEE YOU ALL. ENJOY THE SUN...

SHALOM,
MELISSA

Josh, Way to place relationships over bueracracy! I can't believe you got the hook-up- and from all over. How generous of them to offer to rent a van down there-it is a smart and  economical thing. I think it depends on what they are willing to let us borrow/ send us with (IE long tables, tents, etc). If it's not too much, maybe renting a van in TN is best (and saves LOTS of gas). I think the key things, is that we'd like a 15 passenger van on site for pick-ups.  My suggestion- ask Kim Phipps what she was thinking to offer the gathering- I hope that's not too forward a question. I'm trying to get a hook-up from some local churches and schools for tables etc, but nothings coming together so far- I'll keep you posted. Who would drive the van down anyway? Can Kate? Are there students going down? I'll exchange questions for questions. Keep up the good work and if you're still on campus enjoy the creek and lovely weather.

Melissa

Melissa and all~

I updated the website with all the changes. I also decided to change
"RSVP" to "Registration Form" and link it to the Registration page so
that there would be no confusion about what we are asking people to do.

I have already started getting a few questions on the papatransport
email. This is good, and Danielle and I decided that instead of anyone
else trying to answer transport questions, they should all be directed
to that email address so that there is no confusion or
miscommunication, and no one else gets overwhelmed with information.

The rest of the stuff that Danielle and I discussed at our meeting that
has an immediate deadline will be taken care of this week.

Peace to all~

Transpo Crew,
Nice work. Good clarification regarding RSVP/ Registration. And yes, It is a GREAT idea to have all transportation ?s go to you all. Now that the website is updated I hope to receive no more questions about transportation- and if I do- I'll be forwarding them to you all. Thank you for taking that on.
At the meeting we hashed out what the pre-festival packet will contain (Rose or Katie add anything I forgot/ misundestood). It sounds like the pre-festival packet that will hopefully be sent out to people as an auto reply once they RSVP will contatin primarily transportation info (how they really get there). I hate to "hold out" key info, but it is critical and people will register to get this info more than other info (and with so much interest, we NEED people to RSVP). We're not sure what else will go in that pre-festival packet- it may be just transportation info in the text of the email (because we're unsure if we can auto reply with attachments).  We're thinking that most of the information that will go in the welcome packet will be located on the website (most already is, possibly add as pdf so folks can print out?) Village Agreement, PAPA (H)ours, Map, Schedules. Copies will be available on site (one per car), and all people will sign the liability release form before entering the site- including early volunteers and those coming Thursday and especially those coming on Friday morning.
Perhaps on the ride back from the airport and other stations folks could be signing the release form and the drivers collect (we'll need copies of the liability and welcome packets available for drivers).
On another note, I'm asking around like mad for local folks with a 15- passanger van. We'll see what comes (no responses yet).
Bits and pieces. Email with questions or if something didn't make sense.
Shalom,
Melissa

Lord be with you-Melissa,
How are you? How was the meeting? I had to go out of town with Melissa P.. We had a good time and Melissa did a good job speaking.
Here is an update from the Transportation Committee from our personal meeting.
As for the van situation, Michelle and I decided that we’re going to have Josh borrow the college 15 passenger van.  The van will be used for whatever way you and Shane would need it for i.e. transporting people or materials to take to the grounds in TN and Josh or the designed driver will have soul responsibility for the van but it will used for whatever you need from Philly to the festival. (Please note that we of the transportation team are not going to be in charge of getting any committee members to the festival.)Then once at the festival we will use the van on site and for pick up runs.
As far as the local church vans, continue with the good search or give Michelle some contacts. The more vans the merrier!
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Michelle or me. Okay?
Have a blessed week!
Your friend and mine,
   Danielle

Lord be with you-Joshua,
First of all we just want to thank you for taking on this task of getting a van through Messiah. It’s much appreciated.
Michelle and I have made some decisions to answer your question.:
1.       The 15 passenger van is essential for the PAPA fest directors and volunteers to carry passengers or materials from Philadelphia to the festival in Tennessee. Yes, we would certainly
appreciate it if we could use a 15 pass. van. So, please start working on finding the proper driver and getting a gas voucher card from the school.
Go for it! If you have any questions, shoot them back on this dialogue. Thanks, again.
Have a blessed week!

hey friends, so i've talked with the current director of the Sider Institute
here at messiah, Eric Seibert, and he is willing to support us. he did ask
some clarifying questions though:

Shalom,
Melissa

Hey friends,
Nice work transportation crew. The 15-passanger van going from Philly will be a relief regarding transporting things and people. Although, the extra expense, with help from Messiah, it will likely be a huge help to transport all sorts of things: signs, tents, supplies, etc- Things that would make the long trip to TN a real drag if packed up against you in a car that's not ACed. Not a 100% sure exactly who or what will go down in it, but I'm guessing we'll fill it, and that'll be a relief for others (other communities were wondering if they should rent a 15-pass van themselves). It provides more room for everyone to strech out and relax a bit. And still no positive word from folks who have a 15-pass van down there. But I think you're right- there are so many people to pick-up in a relatively short period that having two won't be a hinderance. Thanks again everyone for the work.
And I can't remember the other topics brought up, so this is the first in a series of respnses.
Shalom,
Melissa

hey friends,
We are good to go with the 15 passenger van from messiah. Kate can drive
it as an employee of the college and we are reserving it from Monday to
Monday (june 19th to the 26th). that way she can pop over to philly and
pick up more materials and papa planners before heading down to help set up
the village. let me know if these dates are what we need. Also, can
someone please figure out who will be riding down and back in the van with
Kate and let her know Her e-mail is KBa...@messiah.edu. she would really
appreciate having someone ride with her a majority of the time at least.
Zach Stock is a good friend of ours so maybe he would like to be one of
those people unless he needs to drive or ride down in another vehicle.
I'm headed out to Alaka tomorrow for the next 3 months but i will still be
available by e-mail if needed. great work everyone and i can't wait to hear
how it all went. shalom - joshua
