We looked at heat island effect for Greater Houston replacing cars and
pickups for electric aerodynamic vehicles. Without improving the
vehicle drag performance there is not as much gain as with heavy and
slow PHEV. The engineer who was working here at the time calculated
that the Houston heat island effect for switching to guideway electric
cars would be 1 degree F. That would be 1/10th of the total heat island
effect in that city. Those calculations were done before we knew we had
to focus on "carbon". It was derived from energy difference not from a
secondary atmosphere chemical linkage. I am sure there is some linkage
but it is a difficult thing to quantify even for those who have degrees
in those fields.

We have also done various gas emissions calculations for our gizmo and
each time ours, as you would imagine, comes out way on top but all that
data means nothing unless someone gets a demo built. Kirston is
probably the closest to having a demo that could break the stereotype of
all these alternative systems. We are slugging away at it and our demo
will be at the Automotive X PRIZE if all goes as planned. It would be
hard for anyone to say it can't be done if they can ride on Kirston's
guideway and we place well in the Automotive X PRIZE high speed race.
The web site has picked up since oil crossed $98 a barrel. I am getting
many more hits with .gov on the end.
