"(AutoPilot) doesn’t provide any meaningful assistance to drivers—and it certainly doesn’t make Tesla vehicles “self-driving” by any means.
“This isn’t a convenience at all. “Monitoring the system is much harder than just changing lanes yourself. Using the system is like monitoring a kid behind the wheel for the very first time. As any parent knows, it’s far more convenient and less stressful to simply drive yourself.”

It would be nice to see the same test applied to each of the other DL contestants. Kind of a shootout at the OK Coral. Maybe with each anteing-up a million dollars, winner takes all.

Consumer Reports.  That is the Nader mag??  Nader killed the Corvair and let the Beetle go free.  What was that about?  Selling magazines is a tough business managing the decline in paper media.  Not every feature sells to every person.  I suggest the test dude not be allowed to drive a Tesla.  He can't figure it out.  Lane changes on the open road are very different from lane changes in locations where this mag is located.  Cutting someone off is regionally subjective.  What works well in Houston is a gun fight in Waco.  Every region has their driving norms.  Cars driven by humans will always have crashes from conflicting driving styles.  Self-driving can be harmonized.  Ralph did a lot of damage in his 15 minutes of fame.

Nader or Nader-not, Jerry, I still say that there should be a set test (with cash award) that all entrants should be able to pass, with the public being advised of what was what. Remember, this all got started with an X prize.
