Hi Everyone,

We're circulating a note about public participation in the summit. Take a look, and please feel free to pass it on to anyone who might be interested.

Apologies for redundancies if you're on more than one of the copied lists.

Any questions, please let us know!

Best, Ivan and Georgia

Dear Friends of Global Voices,

The Global Voices Citizen Media Summit 2010 will be held in Santiago, Chile on May 6-7. The theme of the meeting is "Next generation citizen media, public access and citizen participation.”

Global Voices (http://globalvoicesonline.org/) will gather with a diverse group of bloggers, activists, technologists, journalists from around the world for two days of public discussions and workshops. A two-day internal meeting for Global Voices editors, translators and contributors will follow the public gathering.

We're planning two days of intense discussion, learning, and workshops. Highlights include:

- Awards ceremony for the Global Voices/Google online freedom of expression award, Breaking Borders.

- Discussions of the maturation of citizen media in the developing world.

- Presentations of in-depth research projects on the multilingual web and new media technologies that promote transparency and accountability.

Please see our summit website for more information: http://summit2010.globalvoicesonline.org/

We would love to see as many of you there who can make it. We're reaching out to you because you signed up on our website asking for more information, or because you are a member, partner, or supporter, or work on similar issues.

The event will be held at the Santiago Public Library, and in the next few days we'll have more information available on the site about lodging options, and travel and transport suggestions.

Please see our registration page to sign up: http://summit2010.globalvoicesonline.org/about/register/

Limited space is available. Reserve your slot now!

GV is able to waive the entrance fee for a limited number of individuals, based on need. If you'd like to come, but can't afford it, please inquire. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide travel and lodging stipends, unless you are a speaker or an invited member of the GV community.

Feel free to pass this note on to interested parties. This is a public conference, and all are welcome while we have space. Registration will be first-come, first-serve.

If you aren't able to join in person, we'll be streaming, blogging, and chatting as we go. We're on Twitter at gvsummit2010, and our Facebook page is live.

If you have specific questions about the summit, please contact our Managing Director, Georgia Popplewell at geor...@globalvoicesonline.org.

Best,

Ivan and Georgia
