mySociety coders Struan Donald and Matthew Somerville have been
working hard to make FixMyStreet easier to translate, customise and
install in other countries.
It's an ongoing project, but to signify progress, we've set up a
homepage for FixMyStreet's code, and mailing list for people
interested in re-installing it.
https://secure.mysociety.org/admin/lists/mailman/listinfo/fixmystreet
Matthew is currently in an IRC channel helping two people make
international installations at the same time!
If you're interested, please take a look, sign up to the list and say
hello. And, of course, please tell anyone who you think might be
interested in FixMyStreet in their own town, region or country.
all the best,
Tom Steinberg
PS FixMyStreet is soon to receive a major graphic and mobile overhaul,
which will be rolled into the codebase too
this is great news! Since long I would like to see a FixMySteet in Berlin.
I would also love to merge FixMySteet with a project we have here in Germany called www.frankfurt-gestalten.de
Frankfurt gestalten pulls information from local government / municipality administration websites and places them (among other locally relevant information) on a map.
People can discuss issues such as plannings or local policy and subscribe to news per area and/or topic.
Whats really missing there is what FixMyStreet offers so successfully.
I would like to look into how these two could be merged.
All best
Daniel
