Greetings,
I hope this email finds you well. The 2015-2016 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition is underway and is currently welcoming applications from scholars interested in teaching or conducting research in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. Proposals will be considered from professionals, as well as junior and senior scholars, in a wide variety of disciplines.
To address any questions applicants may have about opportunities throughout the Western Hemisphere region, we have scheduled an interactive virtual advising webinar for Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM EDT. Please register today to reserve your participation in the webinar.
Katrin DeWindt from the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) will be available at the 2015 LASA International Congress in San Juan, Puerto Rico from May 27 - 30, 2015. Look for our booth in the exhibit hall. She will also be giving a brief presentation at the conference titled “Fulbright Scholar Opportunities in Latin America” from 10:30-11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28.
Further information on applying can be found on the Core Fulbright Scholar Program website and I encourage you to review the Catalog of Awards for specifics on award offerings. We will continue to accept proposals through August 3, 2014.
2016-17 Fulbright Scholar Program opportunities to Haiti include:
· Rebuilding Higher Education (#6499) - Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines with a preference for Education; this is a teaching and research project affiliated with the Interuniversity Institute for Research and Development (INURED) to engage in a national assessment of higher education institutions.
· Science and Technology (#6500) - Applicants in the fields of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy are encouraged to apply. Specific requests have been made for laboratory management and teaching, research, and curriculum development in basic sciences and renewable energy; Ph.D. is required.
· All Disciplines (Flex) (#6497) – Research only applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but preference will be given to those who can build and strengthen linkages between U.S. and Haitian institutions. The Flex Award is designed for scholars who require multiple visits to the host country. This option allows grants to be conducted over short segments, preferably during the fall and/or spring semesters.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to receiving applications from scholars and professionals interested in teaching and researching in Haiti.
Kind regards,
Western Hemisphere
