Chè kòlèg,
Estimadxs colegxs,
Dear Colleagues,

I hope this December e-mail finds you and yours doing well.  To be brief, proposals for participation in CSA 2017 must be submitted by December 31, 2016.  Specific details are on the CSA page: http://www.caribbeanstudiesassociation.org/csa-call-for-papers/  Regarding the TH presence at CSA, a few points need highlighting.
  1. As you all may know, TH was formally incorporated as a Working Group at last year's CSA meetings in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  We need to elect an official Coordinator as the head of the Working Group at CSA 2017.
  2. If you submit an individual paper or full panel, please be sure to include Transnational Hispaniola in the title so that we can let everyone know about your presentations.  This provides continued visibility and recruiting opportunities for TH.
  3. TH is also proposing a few organizing themes, in case people would like to submit papers that we submit as a TH-Working Group panel.  These are
    • Religious diasporas
    • Workers
    • Political Economy of Hispaniola
    • Border crossers (migrants, etc.) in history
  4. If you have ideas about potential community engagement or outreach activities while in the Bahamas, please let us know.  As an official Working Group, TH can request funds from the CSA Treasury to support activities.
  5. Please bring your ideas to the TH Working Group lunch.  Details will be announced once the conference schedule is available.  This helps us continue TH work based upon members' input.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Respectfully,

Kiran Jayaram, Ph. D.
