If anyone is interested I could do a talk on Wrightwood gardening at the
nursery in Phelan. In the discussion we could talk about protecting
plants from late frosts, rodent protection and what types of veggies do
best. since there are so many micro climates in Wrightwood, we would
address those too. Maybe later we could have a talk on preserving the
harvest.
Thanks

Big or small it doesn't really matter. Both large and small groups are
fun to interact with! Just give me a couple of weeks notice and about
how many people would attend so we can set up chairs. I think it would
be fun!!! :)

Group- Is anyone interested in helping to advertise Sharon's lecture/talk? Should we sponsor the event for the entire community or just let it be for our group?

Hi all,
I'd really like to know a formulae or two for sheet mulching
I will be stripping some fake lawn off the top of my front yard and preparing beds.
I'd like to do this in about two weeks... so if anyone has knowledge about a good recipe for that I'd like to hear that sooner then our lecture.
Also if anyone has old stable straw or rotten stuff that doesn't have weed seeds in it... I'd love to cart it off for you.
Thanks,

the rule of thumb on starting transplants has always been 6 weeks before
the last frost. But if you have gro lights or a greenhouse then
starting the plants now would be even better. The unfortunate thing
about starting seedlings in the house without gro lights is they get
way to spindly so when you do put them outside they just keel over.
Another method if you don't have gro lights or a greenhouse (cold frame)
is the in and out method. The seedlings go out during the day and in at
night. I will be bringing in veggies sometime in March, hopefully if
the weather cooperates we can have the seminar some time in March also.
Let me know when you would like it and I will check the long range
weather forecast to see what kind of weather we will have.
I'll work on getting it organized! Sounds like fun.
