Food Shift is an Oakland-based nonprofit dedicated to building sustainable solutions that reduce wasted food and hunger. We are launching an exciting new initiative -- Alameda Kitchen -- that will produce nutritious food products out of high-quality produce that might otherwise go to waste due to cosmetic imperfections while creating jobs for individuals with barriers to employment. The Production Chef & Program Manager will manage the daily kitchen operations and training program of Alameda Kitchen. The ideal candidate is a dynamic chef with a passion for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, has experience teaching and training others in cooking, has good managerial and administrative skills, and is compassionate, patient, and light-hearted. This is a chance to get in on the ground-floor of an innovative and successful nonprofit that is growing quickly. . . which is why we need you!
Key responsibilities include:
Testing, designing, and producing food products made from cosmetically imperfect produce.
Ensuring food products meet food safety, quality, and nutrition standards.
Training and supervising trainees in the kitchen.
Managing all administrative duties and tracking associated with the program.
