PLACE for Sustainable Living is excited to offer this
FREE hands-on workshop!

Saturday September 29th, we are beginning the fabrication of our Neighborhood Resilient Gardens project, which envisions a neighborhood resilience initiative that helps build and installs front yard garden planters and rainwater barrels. These pallet planters will increase the neighborhood's resiliency by establishing more edible and medicinal plant growing space in healthy soil in a design that is more drought resistant. Our wicking bed garden planter is built on top of a standard pallet. The structure mimics groundwater ecosystems by creating a reservoir of water underneath the beds, where, from that source, plant roots can 'wick up' what they need. This design loses less water to evaporation and simultaneously encourages strong root growth and therefore healthier and more robust plants.
Learn to design and build these water-efficient raised garden beds. The beds built during this workshop will serve as front-yard garden boxes, providing food for free community meals and re-livening our connection to food and land!
We look forward to seeing you there!
