I just wanted to invite you to our big 6 year celebration this coming Saturday. Please consider attending or contributing to our ongoing safety renovations campaign so we can avoid the fate of over 20 other art warehouses in Oakland that have lost their leases since the Ghost Ship fire. We're planning a full night of amazing local bands including HOUSE of HAMSA, CLN: Creative Liberation
Network, Justin
Ancheta Band, Honey of
the Heart, Noaccordion
and more. There’s also live art, a raffle/auction for great local gifts and
services.
Come early for an Opening
Blessing by Rafael Jesús González and Gerardo Omar Marin, followed by a panel
discussion on the State of the Arts in Oakland after the tragic Ghost Ship
Fire. Panelists include Jonah
Strauss(Oakland Warehouse Coalition), Sadaf Zahoor (Burnt Ramen), Tom Dolan
(Safer DIY Spaces, Vital Arts), Donna Smithey (Shadetree), Shane Sischo (Safer
DIY Spaces), and David Keenan (Omni Commons, DIY, Tamarack).
PLACE handmade merchandise will be on sale from our very own
community maker space; the Makery. Items such as: placemats, patches, chocolate bars, herbal salves, bags and a whole lot more!
Founders and stewards will share PLACE
accomplishments. You’ll hear from our allies, partners, and collaborators.
